Default Track safety requirements

I am modifying a 67 Corvette for performance driving...maybe some local drag strip time, road course stuff and higher speeds solo stuff....I am using a SRIII motorsports frame, ls3, a zl1 rear, tkotrans ...so I am trying to ensure I can take this car where I want to and get on the track....need to know from anyone who has experience with this.....things that will be required for safety. ..etc...if you have experience with this type of thing, I welcome your comments....thanks

Welcome. You also need to read the SCCA General Competition Rules. If your car meets the GCR you are pretty much good to go.

The biggest decision will be if you decide to ever go Wheel to Wheel racing, that's when safety gear requirements really ratchet up.

I decided to forego the door bars which would keep me from W2W but put just about everything else required in my car. You'll want to run a HANS or similar neck restraint which means roll bar with harness bar, FIA rated race seats, and 5 or 6 point harnesses. Ron's safety thread is a great resource, tons of great info in there. A fire system is my next add on...

You'll also need personal safety gear, triple layer firesuit, underwear, socks, balaclava, gloves and of course the HANS.

I saw a lot of people on the track this weekend without all of this gear...and it just makes me cringe. Some or all of it is not usually required for HPDE or PDX events in street cars...but IMHO it should be.
