Just wanted to throw this out there to see if anyone else has encountered this.... Purchased a Vintage Air Frontrunner system for my LS a couple of years ago....got the car running last summer and put on a whole 225 miles. The Alternator included in the kit went sour (Tuff Stuff). Vintage Air's solution is that I just buy a new alternator, as the warranty is only a year! I'm pretty sure a lot of the projects built on this site take some time to complete (read- longer than a year). Anyone have any luck working directly with Tuff Stuff..... I guess I was wrong when I assumed that Vintage Air would step-up and try and be more help given the cost of their system???

Have you tried going through the dealer that you purchased it from? The dealer will have more pull than you will.

Any decent alternator shop can rebuild it for you. If you strike out there, PowerMaster is right in Chicago and can and will rebuild it.

Call tuff stuff. I have had them replace alternator no questions ask. I wont say its a common problem, but I have had the same issue and tuff stuff took care of it.

I was able to work with the vendor Matt's Classic Bowties (great people)...They got me in contact with Tuff Stuff and they are shipping me a voltage regulator (free). While it's not a new alternator, I guess it's a happy compromise considering I was pulling the alternator to have it rebuilt anyway. Thanks for input guys!

I know this thread is old but about half of the time the alternator gets misdiagnosed as the problem. There needs to be a separate ground wire from the alternator case to the block, corrosion can build up between the block and the bracket, it loses it's ground and quits charging.
