Gas Pedals? / Brake / Clutch

I didn't see a sub forum for pedal assemblies so I figured id start here.

I've got a 66 mustang that has the original (manual linkage ) clutch, brake (with wilwood MC) and stock gas linkage.

I don't mind the clutch and the brake feel is great..however the gas pedal setup is rough at best.

Its got enough play that the mechanical linkage rivited to the firewall has two-three inches of play up and down.

So should I just re-revit the linkage? or is there that much play in the linkage stock?

Should I throw it all away and go to a Tilton? Overhung?

is there something better? There has to be something a little more solid then this sloppy setup?

I had a really hard time applying gas smoothly entering a turn as the pedal feels "catchy" along the way.

I wish the pedal wasn't so "hot rod" looking? I wonder if I can just put grip tape over it all?

I think you're on the right track, Nate. Look at some roundy round companies like Lefthander and Speedway...in the circle track section. Find what you're looking for and then call Ron Sutton, he'll get what you need!

An easy and possibly free fix for the throttle slop is a Fox-body throttle cable and pedal setup--all it really takes is a drill. You could probably get both at a junk depot (or Craigslist) for the price of an unhealthy drink at Starbucks. On second thought, your car might be too nice for this approach . . .

I went this route for quite some time it worked great. Right before my car came apart I went the Lokar route in order to spruce up the cockpit. I cant complain on the Lokar stuff my only gripe was on the Cougar I had to relocate the fuse box to get it to work which doesn't matter now because the car is going to be re-wired.
