Default advice on paint

Like many, I am having a heck of a time visualizing my 67 fastback as a completed project.
The suspension, wheels, brakes, r&p, motor and trans, have all been bought and are in my possesion. I have not decided on the paint though. What do you guys think of me going with a dark copper orange like what is on the King Ranch trucks?
The car isn't any where near being able to post pics here. But did get a chance to prime both fenders, drivers door, and firewall a few days ago. Trying to do as much as possible myself. Body mods are going to include shaved drip rails, smooth cowl panel, flush tail lights, smoothed upper rear vents, modified lower rear vents, antenna delete, all trim removed, and some sort of hood to give alot of clearance for my intake.

If I go with the burnt orange, I'm thinking of going with a black, buckskin/brown interior. While trying to keep everything real clean and simple. Thinking of a sheetmetal dash with a couple classic instrument guages in hot white.
I realize this is very long, but I want as many opinions as possible towards where you all think this car should end up looking like.

My main problems are trying to decide on paint, and what kind of cowl hood. Trying to properly fit a 3" fiberglass hood doesn't sound fun. Also, since the cowl panel is smooth now, I want a hood that comes further back towards the windshield. So I may attempt adding something similar to a 69 camaro cowl hood on my steel hood.

For the few that made it this far. The car has 18"Ze wheels, baer, tcp r&p, gw front, martz 4 link rear, 418w/hogans intake, rich 6spd

So with the mods and components listed above, what would your version of a 67 fb be. And don't worry about offending me. Thank you very much guys.

Just letting everyone know now if I do go with copper, I going to have to call it "CopperHead" I know, but could not resist .

Travis,

I don't recall seeing that color you're suggesting on a mustang before so it sounds pretty unique. Though, the King Ranch cinnamon color I think you're talking about may be a little too rustic (trucky) looking for a car.

One other thing to consider with that color is it only looks good with tan interiors, black or charcoal would look bad. I just wouldn't want you to be limited on what you can do with interior.

If you're leaning towards copper/cinnamon colors check out 05 Infiniti G35 Garnet Fire...it's in the same color family but looks a lot sportier. Just a thought. (couldn't find a photo that does the color justice online)

If you are still having a difficult time after getting the feedback you are looking for, you could contact one of the artists/designers on the artwork page. I'm sure one of us can help you visualize what it will look like so you don't get paint choice regret after the project is over. That's never fun.

Good luck!

Default mustang build

Although I do like several cinnamon variations, I would like to stay closer to the burnt orange shade. I was told that Mitsubishi had a color similar to Ford's that is worth checking out. I do agree with you on how Ford's color could have a tendancy to look a tad bit truckish. But, since I will be driving this car alot, I do not want to get too exotic with paint. What about adding a little more metal flake or pearl? Any more ideas?

As for the interior, I would not have a problem at all with going all bone/brown shades instead of using any black. I originally wanted a sisister looking ride, but now like the rich leather look. Heck, I even like the King Ranch interior.
I would love to get a rendering done of my car. Anyone here interested? Ben, is it something you would be interested?

Not many Mustang photos out there for me to go by. And obviously I am not as talented as several here that can build a car in their head.
Really pretty much open for design

Thanks for the replies, but please keep them coming.

Thanks for the plug ! I appreciate it! ^ Man, I really have to update my portfolio!

I would love to help you out Travis. Please send me a PM or an email to discuss further. I'll be leaving tomorrow for Vegas so I may not get back to you until the weekend. No WiFi laptop yet.

As for the paint, here are a couple more suggestions for places to look at that sort of color:

06 Mitsubishi Eclipse
06 Dodge Caliber
07 Dodge Nitro
06 Dodge Daytona pickup and Daytona Charger
06 Vette (and other Chevys)

Ford had a copper/orange met in 2000-2001. I used to sell Fords back then and remember seeing a F250 that color and it looked sharp. I dont recall what Ford called that color but I could find it on a color chart.
