1967 Nova is On Track!!!

Here are the updates I promised.

These are the new down tubes. You can also see the inner fenders in progress. I had to build them in 2 pieces to fit them (not exactly what I wanted but they turned out ok for an amateur). But I like the inner fenders and down tubes better now.

I think they look better now. The down tubes do not show anymore which gives in a cleaner look.

After I build the air intake tube, I will finish the piece that goes on top of the radiator.

Brake lines/fuel supply and return/clutch line: still a little tweaking and straightening on them before I am satisfied but they are close. In a couple of them you can see the billet fuel/brake line clamps. They turned out nice.









Center consoled is finished:





Here are the headers finished. I bought the headers but put a 4 into 1 merge collectors and v-band clamps on them. Also moved the O2 sensor.

With all that FLAT sheet metal -- I'd have it blasted with walnut shells.... otherwise you risk warping.


Sorry -- But I couldn't stand letting really nice work like that get so rusted up. It doesn't have to get like that.

All of the rusty sheetmetal has either been cleaned and primed or replaced now. I won't let anything rust again! Learned the hard way.

It has been exactly 2 years since I have posted any updates. But I worked on the car off and on during that period.

The car is at the paint shop. I plan on having it back in 2-3 months for final assembly.

Here is just a peek of what has been done. Not many photos of the fab work though.

Tucked the front and rear bumpers. Here is the rear.


Stretched and moved the wheel openings so the 27" tires fit and look like they belong instead of them being stuffed into an opening made for a small tire. This picture would not upload for some reason to photobucket.

Blasted the entire car inside and out. Stripped everything to bare metal.




Then it was primed and assembled just enough to roll it on the trailer to get it to the paint shop to be dissassembled again.



I will have more pics of the bodywork soon I hope.

Very cool, bumps look so nice tucked in. What color paint are you going with?

I have it narrowed down to 3 similar colors. All 3 are a steel blue metallic with a hint of green (more blue). All late model colors. One is a late model GTO color, other is around 07 GM, and other I have seen on a Chrysler 300. I know I will be powder coating the window trim satin black or a dark grey. I cannot decide if I am going to rechrome the bumpers and headlight bezels or make them the same as the window trim.
