Ha, don't be sorry. Mike says they are usable with $150 of machine work and the 2000 rod bolt upgrade (they have the 8740 now). They don't look that bad but like you said, rods are pretty critical.

Crower's high end stuff is damn expensive... but their Sportsman stuff is pretty reasonable.
