At the end of the day, the track and So Cal crew let me throw on my year old Goodyear slicks for an attempt at the track record. My shifter was hanging up on me on my downshifts from 3rd to 2nd, so I ran up on the rev limiter until my last lap. I hated doing this! I had a delay due to over heating, but they waited it out for me. I had one crack at it and I made the best of it. The old track record for the past year was held by a modified Miata with aero and forced induction. His time was a 43.24. I beat it by 2 seconds with a 41.25.

Here is a video of the run from the left quarter panel view. The new sound out of the exhaust is courtesy of a new Black Widow muffler. I love the sound.

Exhaust sounds good. Change just for something different?
That would be 43.34 on Falkens DG Pay attention Flash.

Pretty awesome for "learning the tricks of the track"

The track is narrow, but a lot of fun! I used all the track I could. I had to do my part in making sure American Muscle held that track record and I wanted to shatter it!

So Brian. You were running some pretty big Mich 19/20s last year for street tires. What size Flakens are you running?

Since the Corvette is down getting a new engine, I took the 315-30-18's I had for it and put them on some 18 x 10.5 wheels that were my rain tire/wheel set up for the Camaro. They are small for the Camaro and not an ideal size, but they work. I loved them on the Corvette and wanted to try them on the Camaro. The Camaro performed amazing on the Falkens. I could not believe the grip I was getting! I run that 315-30-18 on 18 x 12 wheels on the Corvette. 18 x 11 - 11.5 may be best for that size.

Brian

Thanks. I was wondering what you ended up doing since I've never seen those Falkens in the larger sizes like the 345 your were running. I was kinda hoping you were going to say they had released some larger sizes. I know Brett is digging those Falkens on his car.

The tire chicane didn't make a bit of difference...you didn't miss a beat.
