Wow Greg that sucks!! You know if they we'er doing this pro bono I could see it talking longer to complete, but with you having paid them its just bad business and bad for our hobby.

I hope you get it back on track Greg!!

I always advise my customers not to pay up front for work. Some seem to think it will get the work done faster. Nothing motivates a worker than the balance on an invoice.

Hope you get this straightened out Greg. Love to see some positive news for you and your charity.

If I had another fabricator I'd love to take over this project but I have to stay focused on what I have.

Me too Vince, greed can sneek up on any one of us. I do, however, try to cover special order items. In the contracting world i see it every week where the conttractor totally slacks off and .....we'll you know the rest of the story.....makes me sick......mike

I would not always call it greed. Sometimes unexpected bills or taxes may come up and you might get caught up in the use peters deposit to pay for Paul's parts. That classic I can make it up next week situation is tough to over come.

Having a business is tough.

I agree with you guys but it was a tricky situation with the charity involved. The payment which was made in full several years ago was actually the body of 1969 camaro which the builder needed asap and there were some promises made by the builder to do some additional work at no charge. I knew from the start it would take a little longer than usual but not 4 years. The biggest problem was the fact that in the 91 emails that were sent back and forth, on nine separate occasions the builder promised the work would be completed in 30 days.

Just filed my small claims law suit via the internet this morning against one of the shops, the next shop probably won't be too far behind.

It does suck, and it turns out I may still not get anything out of going to court. I have done a little bit home work on this builder and it turns out the business may be in trouble and on the verge of failure. Of course most of this information is second hand knowledge and may or may not be true. Based on what has been going on with my project over the past two years it is quite possible as I look back on some of the warning signs that I didn't pay close enough attention to. The worst thing is not only am I out $3,000.00 I have already paid, I have over $2,000.00 worth of my own parts I left the builder because he needed them to complete this project.
