Doug
last time it was on the Dyno it made 715, and just over 780 torque.
i have the anti squat up high to get the ass to plant if i remember it is at about 150. but it just blows the tires away right when the trans brake is let loose.
i would like to try and run them,
how do you set up your rear for them to work??

So, I got the car running----but, per usual a few things came up during the trans/gear vendors install. First, when I fired the car back up for the first time, it had a wicked exhaust leak. So, swap header gaskets, check the collectors, and it's still doing the wicked -tick-tick-tick thing. I don't know about anyone else here, but I will loose sleep over something like that--it drives me insane. Finally pull the freaking header off and guess what, cracked where the tube goes through the flange. Still trying to figure out how swapping the trans induced this complete annoyance. Two days later and that was repaired and back together. Bought the flexible dipstick--had too with the half inch high body mounts--nothing else would fit in the car---get it installed and the stinking dip stick won't push all the way down in the pan. Try, try, try and finally the pan comes off to grind the edge for the clearance needed to clear the dipstick. Get that done, then the jack decides it won't work anymore. So, another floor jack gets the car down and today I took it for a spin. It's a pretty cool setup---I seem to have the best luck just driving it in the "Auto Mode" and it goes through all 6 speeds. The only bummer is the new converter---it has about a 2200 stall---this turd motor that is in the car now is so very gutless, it actually took away the only acceleration it had--so, I am more anxious to get the LS3 in the car now. I will say, I was doing 120 in the car in OD and I don't think it was much over 3 g's---with that 3.08 gear and the 28 inch tall tire---come to think of it--that's not helping the car accelerate either is it. So--I like the setup---very nice on the freeway--car is quieter due to lower RPM's and everything seems to be working well. Next step, get the new rearend in the car. I'll be stepping the gear up---to a 3.23 I believe----crazy I know. See you boys at RTTC in about 3 weeks.

Doug

Good to hear Doug!

You know - because you been doing this stuff long enough - but I'll say it anyway because lots of folks read this threads - and some don't know - the effect those 28" tall tires have on the final gearing. The 3:08 is probably more like a 2:97 or so with that tall of a tire.

I was really laughing about the "pig motor" comment.... and then you do the combo - higher stall converter - tall tires - 3:08 gear.... yeah -- it'd be a pig. But that 120 on the freeway at 3000 rpms says it all.

I had a brand new set of headers leak once - locally built here by a super good header shop - had 'em ceramic coated - installed - and the dreaded tick tick tick... took me about a week to find it -- the "star" where the four tubes come together at the collector was leaking! You can't get in there to fix that without whacking the collector off. Lucky - the shop took it back and gave me a new one and even stood up for the coating. I buy all my headers from them! That's just good business!

Your story really hits home. My favorite is the dipstick that won't clear the pan. Drain the trans and make a mess. Glad to hear she's back on the road.

Yeah buddy - another step on the long road to blasphemy... the LSX.

Glad it's running safely and it'll be ready for RTTC action.

When it rains, it pours. Know that feeling Doug, good hear to hear you got it all squared away though. I tell ya though, I would have a hard time sleeping knowing that I was going to be putting a LS3 engine in and waiting for that. I'd be like a kid on Christmas!

Ya---it's sitting in the garage---I started adding up the incidentals it's going to need---and then depression sets it---LOL. Accessory drive, harness and computer, mounts, headers, new tank----blah, blah, blah. I'll just continue with my philosophy of one mod at a time and piece those things together over the course of this year---the hunter continues his pursuit of deals. I just cannot tell you how horrible the motor that currently resides in the car is---I don't think it makes 300 HP. I was joking with Dave that I added 1.6 rockers to it to increase total lift on the cam to over .400----with virtually no change to power---LOL. It's just a place holder---but a very anemic one--so I am def looking forward to the motor install. The cool thing is, it came with a new Comp Cam and springs that needs to be installed. Should pump up the power to over 500---that will be a welcome addition.

Doug
