^ Thx Gaetano. I want to share as often as I can, but you know how it is...it's gotta be relevant. I think about the project every day if that counts...

How's the new 69 coming? What's up with the road racer?

I'm gonna be your wingman for at least one race/track day this summer!

I hear ya. Tough crowd with some serious builds out here, lol.

Waiting on parts for the new '69. Nothing special, just the basics, Baer brakes, Global west arms, 400 hp first gen small block with 275/40's on all corners. Should be done by the end of the month.

The road racer is getting mini-tubbed right now and will be done Friday. Would have gone with DSE tubs but I wanted to keep the shocks outside of the frame rails. Sqeezed some 325's in there without relocating leafs but will be going with 315's.

I'll keep you posted on Buttonwillow this season. E-ticket rides are free but you'll have to supply your own barf bag and extra set of underwear

Ron, what are you narrowing down your LS motors to now then? A Mast 416 perhaps?

Their 416 is hard to beat for both price, durability, and performance.

Do it! Do it!

So you're still planning on selling it? What'd you do with the roll bar?

Thx Guys. Hard to beat Mast and I love the 416, but I'm thinking about about a few more cubes for a few less $$$. Main questiion is how to oil it. Wet w an Accusump is the proven method. Dry, not so simple. Stay tuned for a week or so...

I agree. You can build one for a lot less just without a warranty.

Sounds like you got some cool stuff up your sleeve

OK, so here’s some updates. First off, body work never really moves as fast as anyone would like and in my case, multiply that by a factor of 2x. Since the last pics, the car has had interior paint, factory style honey coat on the inner quarters (which were replaced before I got the car and didn’t have any surface rust at all!) and is completely blocked and set up in the booth for a couple days of exterior color painting. Booth prep time took a few days and the painter needs 2-3 days straight to shoot the car, so it may have color before end of week or beginning of next. I’ll post interior color shots along w paint updates when it comes out of the booth.

I’ve been working on a number of other things – the engine I had agreed to buy turned out to be an LS2, not an LS3 (wtf seller? Good thing Trav was looking out for me, again!) so I passed on that. I’ve been on the hunt for an alternative and have a few things cooking; thinking hard about dry vs wet sump. I’ve also spent some time project planning w Cris about some fab/billet items (read: drooling over his cool parts). One of the things I’ve always enjoyed about projects are making friends with the Pros that get me where I want to be. Cris and friends are no exception. He’s got a great team surrounding his idea factory. On the suspension front, I decided to fab in an adjustable larger hollow sway bar, since the AME unit is a bit small/non adjustable. I debated going w a splined set up but I’m saving 13 lbs going this route and adjustments are a turn of the wrench instead of the expense of a diff splined bar. Thanks to AME Matt for that gem. I have a technical drawing and if anyone wants to see it, just PM me. I also got some advice from Steve Rupp on Pfadt bushings, racing ball joints and ZR1 hubs to reduce deflection under load. So I’m told, deflection will throw your camber alignment out by a degree or more. This video shows what can happen:

So that’s pretty much it for now. Front sub is on its way to powdercoat; I struggled with the colors and decided a muted chassis black (more glossy than satin, but not glossy!) on the sub, silver on the control arms and clear on the spindles. More go than show.

Oh, and Frank called and said my Forgelines should be ready to ship in a week or so. Not bad for a guy whose in the middle of a shop move!

Thx Boss!

Uh, no... Maybe by next year's Super Chevy?

Ron,

Beautiful car! The color you choose for the car looks awesome. I'm considering doing the z28 stripes on my car with that color. How do you think it will look with red? At the very least I want to do the fuel cell and frame that color.

I should do a build thread over here...

Where did you find the Pfadt bushings? I did the Zr1 hubs on Steve's advice as well.
