Since the front of the first frame was trashed and I needed to increase my wheel base 3.5" I picked another frame.
I got the first frame measured out and rough cut.
We were closed this weekend and I didn't have to work today so Friday evening I set things up for operation.
I got the cut line from the other chassis transferred over and the 3.5" added after a ton of measurements from about 15 different points that are in the same locations on both chassis.
After a lot of cutting, measuring, clamps, tack welds, and more measurements I now have a longer frame that's within 1/16" of square and the new 108" wheel base. Lots more stripping to do before it's ready for the new outer frame rails and to fit up in the Camaro.
So I've been working on the corvette frame to get it ready to meet its new home to the point I don't want to cut anymore until I get them side by side so I can make sure all my measurements are correct. This is where the vette frame is at, both "A" pillars are cut off and the toe boards are prepped for a new firewall once it's in the body. Cut off the battery support and some other random stuff that I don't need and is in the way.
I swapped out the frame for the Camaro as they only let me keep one car at a time at work and continued rough cutting and getting stuff ready for fitment. It's a huge pain in the butt because I had a trailer hitch welded in, but I've got most of the trunk floor out.
So the floor boards on a vette frame come in at 53" wide. Add 4" for frame rails and that puts me at 57" wide to try and fit into a Camaro.
With the help of my plasma cutter I removed a good section of the inner rocker and a little bit of the outer rocker. And then measured some more. From my measurements I've found that I can fit a modified 2x4" box tube into the rockers. It will be cut so it's still 2" on the top side, but 1/2" on the bottom side and a new section welded in. While I feel not as strong as the original hydroformed vette frame rails, I'm pretty sure it's stronger than sheet metal rockers, and with the cage, way stronger than a stock '69 Camaro ever was.
Last on this round of updates is the front view of the rendering. Kris Horton gave me some wheel color options to see how I liked a few that I was thinking about.
Slow but steady progress on the car. Today I finished up the welding and grinding on the second frame rail. I used 2x4" 1/8" square tube and cut the bottom and part of the side and reboxed it in with flat 1/8" strap. This let me use 4" instead of 3" and should be just as strong if not stronger than the factory Corvette frame once it's welded into the factory Corvette frame, what's left of the rockers, and the roll cage.
And a test fit with a test piece. Fits like a glove. I'll also still be able to use the factory style door stills too.

And more cutting of the old inner rocker. That's what takes the most time, getting everything cut right as to not mess up the stuff I need to save.
