Congratulations Big Oak Garage on the Great 8 win! That is a stunning car, very well done. Glad you got the recognition you deserve. Quick question cause Im dying to know.... did having previously posted build pictures and body shots etc play a part in any way to not making it to the top? I know the Imposter is a stunning car, I was just curious. Im a stranger to Detroit Autorama, but from what I read they make it sound like you cant show anything really of the car. Just curious!
Congrats though, It would have been cool to see a Lat-G member such as yourself take home the Ridler. But hot damn, a Great 8...... I can only imagine what it feels like. Great job, post some more build pics! I want to see the interior!!
It was my pick to win, if you had a stock Dart sitting next to it for judging, then you could really appreciate how much work this took. It came out great.
This car was stunning in person and Will and the guys that built it are first class. They didn't know me from Adam and took all the time I wanted to talk about it. I posted this in Al's Autorama thread but thought I should put it here as well. To everyone that considers themselves builders and have people pay them to build these cars take note.
The best part of the show to me wasn't even one of the cars or even this car. I obviously spent some time in the Great 8 area Saturday. All the time I was there I noticed the owner of the Dart. His name is Willie Maise. I could not help but notice what a fantastic time he was having the whole time he was there. He truly enjoyed talking to people about the car and was so proud. He was laughing and smiling every time I saw him. Anything competitive brings alot of drama, especially indoor car shows with this type of award. On the outside it looked as though he could have cared less. He was proud of his car, proud they made the great 8 and was having a blast. That's what this is all about in my opinion. So for Will Posey and Big Oak Garage, not only did they build a fantastic car, they made one owner a very happy and satisfied and gave him a weekend he will I'm sure remember the rest of his life! That's what it's about in my opinion. Kudos Will!
