Thanks, yeah the clamps worked real well especially when some of the pipes weren't perfectly round, mostly when cutting the elbows. Oh and I'm pretty sure I stole that idea from someone else

Thanks Trey! Those pics are actually from last November/December! I've got a lot of posting to get caught up on.
The work was going so slow earlier this year at the body shop I was starting to lose interest

I should have explained better when the pics I posted were taken!! I received the Fesler glass in late November IIRC. I had the exhaust, brake and fuel lines done by the time the glass showed up. I got the IIMuch vents mounted and plumbed, and some other miscellaneous stuff done and the car went back to the body shop in early Feb. Also decided I didn't like the cowl area and stole an idea from John (Goosesdad)!! Thanks buddy!

The guy that was doing all of the carbon fiber fitting and glass work had a serious medical issue and missed a few months of work.

Then the shop moved into a new building first part of August.

I'd been trying to decide if I wanted to do some kind of venting in the hood. I liked the vent in the Z28 so much I bought one , got up the nerve to cut a hole in the hood we had already spent a ton of time getting to fit and.........

Made a cardboard pattern for a retainer to fasten the vent down from the underside, cut the actual piece out of 1/8 aluminum and rolled it to match the shape of the hood.

I decided I wanted to use Anvil inner fenderwells but they didn't fit the stretched fenders too well

So we cut the outer third or so off and rebuilt them with fiberglass to fit the fenders.

Cardboard ground away and adding more fiberglass

Finished product, painted the fiberglass areas black and then matte clear over everything.


We got some of the clear primer that Ringbrothers talked about in their carbon fiber video series and shot the hood and nose. Works very well for filling in pinholes and wet sanding the entire surface


Here's a shot of the bottom of the hood, had a lot of work to do on the outer area so painted that black, left the center carbon and then matte clear again over all of it

I had the pattern for the cutout made and taped to the hood and was still trying to decide if I had the guts (or the balls, lol) to do it. My boys were saying they weren't sure and then I sent pics to Randy Johnson (D&Z Customs). In his words "Just do it, it's only carbon fiber"
