You need to stay on the track next time I come up behind you instead of pulling off. You must be the one who missed the drivers meeting. Don't you remember when they said if a car from behind has come from out of no where it is likely that you are running slower

Is it time for the LS or is it a simple 4-5K repair/refresh?

Sounds like everyone had a hoot and kept the cars together for the most part.

It was a great time! Couldn't ask for better weather or overall track conditions. Greg was really starting to fly and feeling confident in the little pony midway through Saturday's sessions and it threw a shoe again. You know when you're throttle steering it through T7 you're having a good time! First it appeared to be a fuel delivery issue (pressure regulator) and on Sunday's third session it failed.

Hopefully the tear down of that motor will reveal the cause(s) of the reliability issues. When that motor is working proper it sounds great and more importantly the power delivery is controllable and abundant. That equals fun as all get out to drive which is what this is all about! Considering how he treats the motor at the very least he should get two or three seasons without ANY issues IMO.

The first session on Saturday Greg is right in front of me leaving the hot pits and punches it a little to test traction and leaves two 15' blackies..........and I'm just smiling thinking how great it is to be a kid again.

Sears Point is an awesome track, no time to relax and plenty of opportunity to get in trouble which makes it very exciting. Pictures are coming.

Having never been on the track before the first day was learning lines especially since I didn't get a chance to do a track walk. Saturday night I walked the track by myself and learned A LOT which helped my lines and confidence on Sunday. My last session on Sunday was the most enjoyable as I was confidently starting to carry a fair amount of speed, enough that I had to tell myself to keep it in check because my lines and techniques are still far from what I'd consider refined. The little Lotus is very user friendly and amazingly potent. Greg proved that Sunday afternoon against some very serious car and driver combinations.

Good to hear Sieg, well not about the motor but these things happen. Looking forward to the pictures as well as Sutton and Welds plan for the car.

Rusto, how'd the lil falcon do?

RE: The pony motor

My guess is it went lean. All the messing around with the carb trying to make it work without the regulator may or may not have had something to factor in IDK. I was hard in to it when whatever it was let go. The exhaust was almost white instead of the usual dove grey.

Doesn't really matter to me... we'll just build it over or put something else in. It'll be up and running for the October 5 mile at Thunderhill. Should have all new suspension as well as tires and wheels... so that will be a complete new tuning and set up challenge. Ron Sutton Race Technologies will be on the job dialing it all in.

GAETANO..... all I saw when I checked my mirrors was you getting smaller and falling further behind. Lucky for you I had a pressure regulator fail and had to go to the pits to see what was wrong. That probably saved you some embarrassment. The skinny little 245's out gunning the steam rollers. Maybe more motor will help you next event? LOL

First session on Saturday in green group during lap 2 or 3 everybody was reminded that this is a dangerous and expensive hobby. Story is he spun in his own fluid coming out of T8. Mike in our group was a couple cars behind and said he had to catch his car coming through the section and was pretty sure something was on the track.

From what I heard the car let go then hooked up and shot left off track and moved a 7,000 pound K wall and thankfully the driver was fine. I'm guessing the speed through that section is 80-90 mph and the K wall is 50-75' off the track.

What this reinforced for me is the first session is an acclamation period for the driver and car. Pushing 9 or 10 tenths first session out isn't in anyones best interest IMO.

What's the track like today?

Are you on your game or maybe feeling slightly off?

Is the car near a 100% or was it apart prior to the event and not tested or thoroughly safety checked?

Could that fluid leak issue have been detected prior with a couple easy laps or could the crash have been prevented running the first session at 70-80%?

All speculation but worthy of consideration.......again IMO.
