well the culprit is Clostridium perfringens and its habitet is soil.. and it causes.. youve guessed it gas-gangrene
so just be carefull not to contaminate the wounds with soil and dirt.. the screws are solidly planted in your bones and especially in your tibia there is a very short distance to travel from skin level to the bone.. and your immune system has a real hard time fighting off an infection once its in bone.. the tissue just isnt vasculized enough...
