There's some talk that the reserve won't be/cannot be met, that the car isn't really for sale. HeartBeatCity.net is getting A LOT of advertising for the $40 insertion fee of the auction
If that's the case, it wouldn't surpise me. The username of the seller says Heartbeat City. That would be Heartbeat Jim (as he's known around the 'D'). I don't have a lot of repect for those people over at Heartbeat City...they're crooks as far as I'm concerned and the rudest business I've ever dealt with.

If the reserve can't be met, why don't we all just start a bidding war? Who wants to go first?

Yep Ed that's the 68 Z-28 convertible, one of one, built for Pete Estes. He only drove convertibles and so it was built for him to leverage approval for a true "volume" Z-28 in 68. Supposedly the car is well documented but has not reached some very optimistic price targets at auction. Some info on the car here:

The part about the car being built so Estes would approve regular production of the Z28 is a myth. By the time that convert was built the Z28 was already in production. All the orig paperwork was stolen out of their tow rig at one of the auctions and has not been recovered.

Oof! I guess the thief has figured out that the paperwork is kinda hard to sell on its own.

That'd be the one, Jon.

Will that mean that we soon will see another Z/28 'vert on sale on eBay soon. With paperwork presumably.

Hey Charley I hadn't heard about the "stolen paperwork" thing. Quite a tale of woe (insert sad violin music here)...

The whole "stolen paperwork" thing sounds real hokey. I wonder if there really ever is/was "paperwork" to document the car....

How would a would-be theif even know where to find papers for the car and know what he was stealing? Seems highly unlikely to me.

Also, you would think that an owner of such a car would have:

A: Kept the documentation at home in a secure location, or, if necessary to have the originals at the auction, in a secure place away from the car

B: Have at least made some copies of all the documentation.

C: Have had Ed Cuneen research and document/certify the car at some point...

In short...Fishy.
