I can't imagine anyone will need to pay any over MSRP. I wouldn't. Market will probably be saturated in no time.

Got the order confirmation from GM today.

The story behind this is kinda funny. Had promised my son, who attended the start of Hot Rod Power Tour 2006 in Orlando and who's two favorite cars were Steevo's Twist Machine and the Silver Prototype Camaro, that we would get one as soon as they made them. I didn't really think this would ever happen. Then the Transformers movie came out with "Bumblebee" and he has been relentless since. So I get to blame the purchase on him...lol.

SS/RS
Black with Cyber Grey Metallic Rallye Stripes
6 spd Auto with Tap Shift
Looking forward to the twin turbo option...

There is a big list of dealers that are MSRP or below. Most want a $500/$1000 deposit. Very reasonable.

I hope you are right. There is nothing I hate worse than when the dealers do the douche move & mark up the cars 10-20k over MSRP screwing the customers. If they don't mark it up I will buy a Camaro over the Challenger for that reason.

If you walk into a dealership to buy a new Camaro and the dealer has the car marked up over MSRP......walk out and find another Chevy dealer.

You'll be doing a GM employee and his family a huge favor.

Our best defense against dealerships who do that is to not give them our business.

Chris -

Here is a link. It has a list compiled of dealers nationwide who are MSRP or below. There is also a list of who to avoid.

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=10

Hope this helps.

Tony -

That is exactly what happened here. I emailed the local dealership. Here was the response:
"Hello, Bruce we are taking Sold orders on the Camaro, as far as pricing we don't have these figures yet, on our end the price will be $5,000. over M.S.R.P.what ever that may be we have no control over that, the deposit would be $1,000. if you have any questions please call me xxxxx yyyyy Sales Manager at ..."

I gave him a pleasant but obnoxious response and then immediately called a dealer on "the list" and voila, no markup and they now have the sale. Free enterprise at work.
