Yeah, those Hondas are hard to replace!

Seriously, sorry to hear of both your troubles. Payton, if you get a line on any parts here in rust free Arizona, let me know, maybe I can help shag them down. Mark, I know that this is just an opportunity to mod the wifes car! Admit it, you backed up!!

Glad you're both OK. That's what really counts.

I was in the auto claims business with the nations #1 auto insurance company. High end cars can be a problem due to the fact that most high end repair shops kind of play by their own rules, most insurance adjusters are simply tuned into the get'em in, get'em out high production family sedan repairs.

We had a claim last year on a limited production BMW. It was a hard hit. The interior package was a special one only offered in Europe (imported car). The interior was damaged. The shop had to fly a man over to the states to bring the correct material and dye to finish the job. The car was in the shop 8 months for a normal 2 week repair on any other car.

Keep in mind though, you usually only hear about the horror stories. Most claims go so quick and so smooth that there is nothing to talk about once they are complete.

Good luck on your process.

Default anyone like to guess the cost?

Thank you all for all of you kind words. It was a low impact hit so I was more than fine. The car needs a deck lid, rear filler panel and bumper cover just looking from the out side. May be more after the bumper cover comes off. The estimate is $4400. The deck lid alone is $900.

I forget that most of you do not know what I do for a living. I am a State Farm Insurance agent (nation's #1 auto insurer). The guy that hit me had State Farm, I am just glad it was not one of my policyholders. The shop that is fixing the BMW is the same shop that has been doing the metal work and will be painting my 69 and we are good friends. I have complete confidence that I will get a first rate job. The people at BMW say that the parts are available, but no word as to how long it will take to get them...they are checking.

I hate that the 62 vette got torn up. That is worst nightmare when the 69 is done.

Default back

I should have rolled out of the car and flopped around on the ground and have SF finance the rest of my project. It seems like everyone else does.

I had a policyholder let there foot slip off of the brake at the stop light and hit the car in front. It did $150 dollars worth of damage to a painted bumper cover. Basically $150 to have the mark buffed out. A week later I had an injury claim from the claimant. Her and her mother were going to the Chiro. When they called me I just laughed and sent them to claims. People will try anything.

next time i get rear ended...they are gonna have to pull me out with the jaws of life.... helo-vac me to the hospital, and and and..... wait, does this sound pre-meditated?

the last 2 times i got rear ended(both sittin stopped at red lights) i got the shaft both in getting the car fixxed and personal injury. allstate claims actually tryed to accuse me of being at fault for 1 of them.... i had to get a lawyer just to get my med bills covered.

the other was some no name ins co, they offered to settle 2 hours after the wreck for $1500...... telling me that my super clean (till the wreck)71 240Z was worth $500, and $500 for med bills, and another $500 for the "suffering"......... yeah...they got to talk to the lawyer a lot also.

atleast you have an "in" with your deal... however, i gotta wonder if the claim will affect ya next time raises are handed out

Default insurance

There are some companies out there that I do not agree with their claims handling policy and it is unfortunate that you had problems with both of your claims. I find that State Farm does a better job than most on handling policyholders and claimants claims...that is not saying that someone has some horror story about Sate Farm.

I was really just joking on having the inside line since I am an agent for the company. They will handle my claim just like anyone else's. If anything I would rather them do a bad job with mine than to do that to one of my policyholders. Obviously I know who to call when or if there are problems, but it is the same people I call for my own policyholders as well.

I have parts on order, they (BMW) actually had them in stock in the US. Parts should be here in a week.
