All the cars I repair under warranty or transport damage are documented by me and the dealer . Here's the rub , they ony have to disclose the damage if its $1500.00 dollars or more . Now thats here in Illinois it may be different in your state.. If any car comes in for paint problems at any of my dealerships they can tell me exactly if and when a repair was done. Just because it was transport damage (if this is what it is ,and I would bet the house it is ) it should still be warratied by the dealers body shop. Trust me they know exactly what happened to your truck if they were the selling dealer..

I work for Ford and here in Nor-Cal,the vehicles come off of a railcar then head to Hadley in Benicia where they are held for delivery. That facility has it's own bodyshop so they repair any transport damage and that is usually never disclosed to the dealers if under a certain dollar amount.

I sold a Mustang once that had a leak around the rear quarter window that we finally traced back to Hadley's poor repair...that one was a mystery for quite sometime.

Ok so you are still in your 5 years.

Try other chevy places in your area.

I am thinking lot or transport damage as well. And if that is the case there is records of it but it might be tough to get to them without being an ass about it. Some times that does it though...

The local GMC dealer by me is RIGHT on Interstate 5 (northbound side). A few years ago a car ran off the freeway and through the chicken wire fence that was between the road and the front line of vehicles on display. There were three Yukon Denalis that were hit. And not just a tap, the driver was drunk and left the road at over 85mph according to the state patrol. These were sitting in the rain for several days on the lot right next to the freeway. I later found out they were all repaired and sold. AS NEW. This information came from the general sales manager after he left that store. We have a mutual friend and I was there when he told the story. But I did see the SUVs after the wreck, I would have thought they were all a total loss period.

Another horror story....how would you like to spend 55k on a Yukon XL only to find out later it was a sales managers demo that had been totaled but repaired in the dealers own body shop and sold as new. My wife is in insurance ( a clients car, not mine)and the VIN came up as being in a wreck prior to the sale date. A little digging and the police report with photos was found. The sales manager was cited for drunk driving, he hit two other cars and destroyed them. There were pictures of the Yukon missing most of the front end, drivers door, rear passenger door skin and rear quarter skin and all of the glass on the drivers side. All of the air bags on that side had blown too.
So they fix it (poorly) and sell it at full retail to these people. One year later they start having problems with it (many ) and the dealer says they know nothing about it but because it was a demo they wouldn't warranty it. (demos are still considered new and should be covered by the factory GM warranty). That dealer is under new ownership now.

Get your dealer to take care of it. Somehow before you got your truck it had to have been painted. Maybe only a very minor repair. Maybe not. But find out.

My point is that the dealers do what they do to make the money. Some are more honest than others. I don't want to bash dealers now. There are good ones.

The 5 year 100 k the panel has to have a rust hole through it according to gm.do you have some one at the dealership that you normally deal with with in service?look at it together with them carefully.it is out of the base warranty, they should be able to provide you with some goodwill assistance.some dealers work that way, some don't.if they say no we can't help you.your'e best bet is to either ask them the next time there gm rep with be there and ask him to look at it with all of you.or call customer assistance and ask to have the case escalated to a higher case.i run a chevy service dept.i deal with it every day.we are very customer orientated here.i guess some dealers don't think that way.again if you want me to run the vin in the gm data base.shoot it over. drew.

When did it change from 10 years 100k on the base warranty?

GM should take care of it under goodwill warranty even if its not covered still, they would have for sure a few years ago before the government takeover. I think my 92 has been washed and waxed once a year for the past 9 years and the paints still fine on it.
