Anybody running a T-56 Magnum behind a big block?

Looks like price of the magnum has came down some since it first came out, e.g. ~2800 now. That isn't too far from the price of a good 4l80e so I've been thinking .

Just curious if anybody has experience with the Magnum behind a healthy big block. The 700 ft/lb rating provides some comfort. Is Quicktime the go-to bellhousing for this setup?

I too am in the market of a tranny and was going to run a TKO600 w/BBC but may change over to a LS later and wanting to know about a T-56 Mag. up against a BBC for now so I don't waste money on another tranny.

Bump for you and I looking for suggestions....

Yeah around here it is LS or go home . No love for the boat anchor big blocks. Well I guess Todd is the exception HA.

With the 700 ft lb rating I think it would be fine except for extreme builds and/or one too many trips to the strip with sticky tires.

I also considered the TKO 600 but the RS600 from Keisler sounds good at the moment. Too early to get much "real world" feedback yet but I like the concept. Good bit more money than the TKO though if you don't already have a bellhousing, etc that you can use.

I'm in the process of collecting all of the necessary parts for a T56 Mag to a BBC install. Trans arrived a few weeks back along with the Quicktime Bell (will go with hyd throw-out bearing). Bell is a nice piece.

Now just waiting for the new BB540 to be completed by the builder. It does not seem that many have gone with the T56 Mag to BBC combo. Most are LS related installs.

For me, I'm hoping for no major surgery required on this install. So far, it is a coin toss. Will know for sure shortly.....

On the trans crossmember, have you decided on which mfg to use? This is one area I have not yet covered.

This T56 Mag may end up being a pipe dream so no, I haven't gotten far enough to make a decision on the crossmember. The ATS one is nice though from everything I've seen/read. Then there are a few others on the market as well. Keisler's looks nice too.

I think the biggest issue is finding one that has been designed and proven for the BBC and specifically for the factory BB frame mounts that shift the engine to the passenger's side. That's why the OEM TH400 crossmember is offset.
