Check out https://www.escrow.com/index.asp

I sold my Nova to another lat-g member using it. He suggested it. The buyer sends them the money, once the car is received they release the funds. It worked well for us. But I did arrange for him to release funds the day the car shipped. I felt a little more secure about that. If there are no surprises and both buyer and seller are comfortable with the transaction, you should be able to work this out.

The only thing about paypal is the limit on a single transaction. You wont be able to do much over $2500 and then paypal can put a hold on the amount. This results in the buyer having to make several small payments. I've also been through that and its no fun.

Nothing beats cash in person!

Good luck with sale.

Again, thanks to all for commenting. I ended up having 8 e-mails from different names asking to buy the car site unseen through paypal today. Once I responded to all that it would be a cash only deal the e-mails stopped.

Direct bank to bank transfer is the only way to fly if not doing the transaction in person.

Paypal for a small deposit only. I got nailed on two NOS fenders by a buyer claiming the fenders I shipped were damaged, but wouldn't allow UPS to inspect so I could collect for the "damage". PayPal sided with the buyer and I got nailed for 1/2 of the price. I'll never use them again unless I know the buyer or he's an established Lateral-g member.

In person. cash. period.

I will agree with the others and say $500 deposit via Paypal is fine, but do a wire transfer for the rest.

If you have the buyer "gift" the money to you, then you aren't charged any fee's and he has no recourse or power to file a claim on 'gifted' money. So that's another option for leverage.
