So - -for some reason the cable was simply too short when installed per the kits instructions. I moved their braided cable adapter bracket from one side to the other on the carb bracket (closer to the carb) to gain some length and it appears to be good. I check it all with the pan off per Greg's (and the Bowtie OD guy's) instructions.

I got the lockup wiring finished up -just need to run a vacuum line, fill it up with fluid and we should be about ready for a test drive.

Thanks for the advice. Sometimes it's therapeutic just for me to type out an issue like this - it helps me think through it more clearly.
