Blocking the rear ports still allows air pockets to be trapped in the rear of the heads. The most common cylinder to burn down in an LS is number 7, the theory is that trapped steam pockets are causing this.

Thanks Tim, I should've taken your advice and got the Kurt urban one, I'll be ordering one of those tonight. Def can't afford to blow this motor up.

Got the Kurt urban setup tonight, very impressed with the quality and looks. I wish the lines were a little shorter, but should work good! Thanks for the help guys
