I had looked at the S60 also.
It's about the same price as putting together an aluminum 9" setup.
The 9" would have to be 50lbs lighter I would think?
Gear selections are limited too.
I think if the Z28 turns out to be too expensive or unavailable my best option is the Hammerhead. It looks to be the same price roughly ad the 9" but I think it's a more efficient setup and its lighter than the ZL1 and the S60.
I'm still hoping the Z28 one works out as far as pricing goes.

That is the focus of my car. I should be around 3100lbs and the same or slightly less HP as the Z28. .

The ZL1 diff has a built in cooler, so I would think its more geared towards road racing than 1/4 mile racing. not to mention it is a 9.9inch diff so it has a gear set similar to that of a dana 60 in size.

I have one sitting in the shop now and is getting stuffed under my Chevelle.

Greg, I agree that the ZL1 diff makes a great road racing setup.
I think some of the choices made were based around making it a good 1/4 mile
differential also. The iron case vs aluminum, ghd larger ring gear and the clutch style LSD.
From what I understand, although I haven't seen proper specs yet.
The Z28 diff will be aluminum, have the same style diff cooler, a helical gear torque biasing LSD and a smaller ring gear.
The ZL1 is also a great option. I would like to save the weight of the iron housing if I can.

Good argument, personally I felt it was better to have a few extra pounds of sprung weight in the back of the car to help balance the front to rear car weight.

I am putting in the entire IRS out of a wrecked ZL1, don't bother looking in my build thread for it, I haven't posted any updates in ages
