I remember it clear as day, standing in my third grade classroom as they came over the announcement speaker and gave us the news and then that long moment of silence the entire school took part in. That day is what made me want to be a firefighter and has brought me to where I am today. We shall ALWAYS remember, because the greatest tragedy is being forgotten!

NEVER FORGET

I was working at Logan airport when the planes took off. They sent us home and 1-1/2 hours later called us back to finish a cut we had through one of the taxi ways. We worked air side all day and into the night to finish it. It was so eerie not one plane or person there, only us and hundreds of police, swat and federal marshals. The only air traffic was 2 F-15s flying cover. They would fly low over us every once in a while until they escorted 2 jets carrying officials. definitely don't hear them coming but once they are over you or past you, you know. make me cringe every time I think I was there when they took off.

Default I Remember!

I was in the Navy stationed in Groton, CT ... just reported for work and got the Div Officer brief and then the sirens went off all over the base. What the heck is this all about? A bunch of us Chiefs went to the Duty Officer bunk room where the only TV was and watch the initial reports coming across the tube. We just stood there in silence, couldn't believe what we were seeing .... NY is only 2 hours away, that's close.

Then the sub base was on lock down and the sat (security alert team) and baf (back-up alert force) were picked up outside the building ... we didn't leave the base until later that evening when security went door to door clearing the buildings.

The images of the towers is burned in my mind .... I'LL NEVER FORGET!
