This happens all over the place, anyone see how many places Monster Cable has sued for the term monster? They have sued (and won a bunch) everyone you can think of....you'd swear it was the owners mission in life.

Some would argue that it provided the Harley aftermarket a better means of creating their own brand identity for their products rather than having everyone co-opt the Harley names which gave a sense of sameness to everyones stuff.
Does Harley sue motorcycle clubs for using the word Harley? Like I said, I can see this in terms of product but bashing websites and companies that PROMOTE the brand amoung fans seems to be counter productive.. and Ford didn't even invent the word.. The also say they will protect the word "Pony".. so I guess no more Pony Rides.. just "small horse rides".. lol

Oh.. I almost forgot

Ford Motor Company F 6.90 -0.05 (-0.72%)

Maybe Ford shoud be fixing thier screwed up business rather than going after companies and enthusiasts that are NOT the core problems at thier company..

I posted this on the Pro Touring board...

Does this mean all of these still flying will have to be renamed?
So maybe Ford should be sued by North American for trademark infringement... Too bad NA went out of business...

Maybe http://www.blm.gov/ needs to sue Ford...
Will they have to change the name of these?

Will Wilson Pickett have to rename his song?
AND change the words in it?
Mustang Sally

Mustang Sally,
Guess you better slow your Mustang down.
Mustang Sally, my baby,
Guess you better slow your Mustang down.
You been a runnin' all over the town now,
Guess I'll have to put your flat feet on the ground.
All you wanna do is a ride around, Sally (RIDE SALLY RIDE)
All you wanna do is a ride around, Sally (RIDE SALLY RIDE)
All you wanna do is a ride around, Sally (RIDE SALLY RIDE)
All you wanna do is a ride around, Sally (RIDE SALLY RIDE)
One of these early mornings
I'm gonna be wipin' those weepin' eyes.
I bought you a brand new Mustang, it was a natural sixty-five.
Now you comin' right signifyin' a woman,
Girl you won't, won't let me ride.
Mustang Sally, now baby,
Guess you better slow that Mustang down.
You been a runnin' all over the town,
Oh, I gotta put your flat feet on the ground.
All you wanna do is a ride around, Sally (RIDE SALLY RIDE)

"The intent is to eliminate the use of trademark names, including Mustang and Thunderbird..."

So many businesses will be impacted...just the Thunderbird stuff alone should keep the lawyers busy for a decade... I hope that American Indians are able to get some restitution...after all, they came up with it in the first place, right??

They aren't going to come after a message board like this one unless it somehow is damaging to the image of the brand. It poses no relationship confusion threat, nobody is making any (real) money off of it, and unless it is a site dedicated to images of gay midget sex on the hood of '67 mustangs it presents no damage to the brand image.

But, if www.StevenRupp'sHouse-O-Mustangs.com which sells parts over the net also has a message board he might get a cease and desist order.

Harley has never come down on a club, and I sincerely doubt Ford will either.

Default corvette

I did not "google it" but a corvette was a class of sailing ships from Spain I believe. They may have used it in WWII since it was a successful ship in the days of wind power.

Shelby is doing the same thing but also on parts, name branding, emblems, fiberglass parts, ect. It's the new trend.

I'm actually suprised that Ford waited as long as they have to do it. Good decision.
True...didn't Harley get shot down on that? I had heard the government told them "no" on that one.
