Its a mopar, Id run a dana 60 kinda like apple pie and baseball its just the american way.. First thing you do is look under the back of a mopar you want to see that cover... well if you do that you need to put the little bee in the quarter glass...
The gears in the 9 inch are thicker than the dana. Even though the ring gear in the dana is longer, doesn't mean it's stronger. Plus it's more parasitic and heavy. Go with the 9 incher.
the Dana is heavier, and I'm pretty sure that it is more $$. I ordered a moser 9'' for the chevelle with the back brace, drain plugs, and detroit tru-trac. CAr isn't on the road yet but install went nice. I think I might have someone set-up the center section again, I've heard moser isn't the best at it?. But over all great product. GO 9"
We obviously love the 9" units, and we use Strange almost exclusively. I agree, Frank, I don' think that Tru Trac has a 35 spline posi unit, we always go with the 31 spline setup. Tru Tracs seem to work really, really nice, I love mine and haven't heard any terrible things from others (although there was an issue with the setup they had for the smaller Ford rears ala late Mustang, I think it's is fixed now).
Funny, we get many Mopar fans stating that they won't run a Ford piece on their car, they seem to be more loyal to the original supplier stuff than other brand loyalists. I'd guess it costs us business at some point, but overall, the 9" is a super solid, affordable, relatively light weight (none of them are "light") with a huge supply base of parts. It's the Small Block Chevy of stick axle differentials. Whatever you do, stay far away from Detroit Lockers if you plan on driving the car around turns.
