So after spending the last week working on the car and then searching for and planing out my suspension for the front and rear <WOW

I've come to a couple of conclusions, first yup you guessed it this hobby cost a lot and second man are there ALOT of options out there for a 2nd gen Camaro

I could build a 9 second drag car with motor for you can spend on upper end front and rear suspension for our cars.

The hardest part is trying to put the right parts together (system) you want this, but oh that would be cool to have. Yeah I know what's the intended use for the car I get all that. I know to go with a system from a vender and not try to rethink what they have already done. I was talking with my wife and she said why don't you just build the car you want?? And I said here's how much the just the suspension I want will cost and here's what she did !! But said if that's what you want then go for it just don't show her the bill s for any of it!!

Soooo after my long winded here's what I'm going to do, first I'm going back to the "KISS" method for this build!! I have two kids that will be in catholic high school in two years and then collage after that! So just can't see spending that kind of cash now in my life it just doesn't make sense.

I'm going to finish the body make it perfect like a resto top and bottom. Rebuild all the parts I have suspension front and back, maybe a set of lowering springs (most likely as they will not cost that much).

As for the interior mine is in nice shape other then new carpet and redo the seats. So nothing crazy there.

Wheels well I'll see what comes up there but it will be on the lower end of cost that's for sure. I will do some little custom things to the body but nothing crazy. Just a nice street cruiser that's it!!

Anyway with all that said let show you a picture of my DSE sub frame I just ordered!!

J/K Now out to the shop to keep working on it because it's not going to finish it self ( ask me how I know that)???

Just do all the stuff you can accomplish on the cheap. Most of the metal work can be done on a budget. We were mini tubing cars long before DSE tubs were available. As long as you can weld and stick metal where its supposed to go.

Rear suspension systems can be created. Links are cheap to build with parts available from Speedway, Spohn, and Summit. A RideTech air bar rear isn't too bad as far as cost.

That front suspension works fine. With better parts available now it would be even better. Our combo back in the day was Koni's, factory HD coil springs chopped to fit, 75-81 TA sway bars, new bushings and firewall bars. Several Solo II cars with this simple package did very well, Koni's painted gray of course. That's with rubber bushings and no frame connectors. (well a cage but you know)

The goal is to keep it running.

At this point, I'm following the same budget minded suspension path as you, Rick. I went with Custom Works for Viking coil overs and Speed Tech control arms on the front. You could easily save a bunch of money and stay with a coil spring/shock combo. I'm already a WS6 so I have the upgraded sway bars. For the rear, I'm trying out composite monoleafs with Viking shocks that match the front shocks. We'll see if this gives me the desired performance/budget balance I want. I'm not tubbed at this point. 9.5" on all four corners is the goal for me for now. Maybe one day I'll minitub. When I do, it's going to be with a strip of metal and not DSE tubs. I'm building a go car not a show car.
