While my son was home for Christmas leave, he talked about starting the build on the engine. So I had all the block work completed, and we started to set the crank and pistons. WE got 3 in, and the ring compressor stopped working correctly. He was disappointed to say the least.
After he left, I was able to get a new ring compressor and get the rest installed.

Then I hit issues. Started installing the cam, and #4 cam journal would not allow the cam to go in fully. So back apart and to the machine shop to fix that problem. Got it all back together, and realized the cam gear was wrong for my application. I'm changing the engine from a GEN III to a GEN IV. Then needed to also install the timing chain guide which required drilling the block. Mistakenly, drilled through the block, which is internal and not a problem, other than all the shavings going inside the engine. So, apart again to clean everything up, then reinstall everything.

At this point, the heads are on, and ready to be torqued. Will get that completed this week.

Got more completed on the engine. Decided that I’m going to try the old school look for the LS. Using PSI conversion harness and intake setup. Accenting with the black Holley front drive setup.

So a couple of weeks ago, I stopped at Summit in GA. Noticed that they had a steering column that would work for the Chevelle. It was missing a key, so they had it at half price.
This weekend, while waiting on paint to dry, I had the idea of taking the key cylinder from my original 3 on the tree column and putting it in the new column. Yes , it worked so I will be using my original key for the car. Happy this worked out.

That's cool!! Small things like this make builds fun and are a great conversation piece.

I wanted to get some help making a decision on coil overs or stay with air ride. At his point, I have the ridetech airride shocks that came with my suspension kit. I currently don't have the air system, and now looking at possibly moving to coil overs instead.

It would be less money to order new shocks instead of an air system. It would also be less issues with installation. So I am leaning toward the coil overs.

Now the next question, whose do I choose? Stay with Ridetech, or go to like Aldan, or Speedtech? I like the Speedtech at this point, but not sure if it would work with the A-arms from RideTech.

Thoughts?

Thanks,
Bill

So there has been some activity going on in the garage. I just haven’t kept up with posting here. I did ask a question in my last post, but didn’t see where anyone had thoughts on the subject.
Been trying to finish the engine and transmission. PSI Conversions has been great to work with on going kind of old school look. Name: IMG_1135.jpg

Little more work and changes. PSI Conversion had an V2 for their adapters and got them to me. However, the fuel rails they sent are not working out. Monday will be getting in touch with them and walk through the issue. Name: IMG_1182.jpg
