Morning all ... So I was fortunate enough to get invited to the PFAFF Porsche Obsidian / Black tie event that was held last night. And it was here that I came face to face with likely the most incredible car that I will ever lay eyes on .... The detail and craftsmanship is absolutely 2nd to none. If anyone has the chance to get up and close to a Singer DLS do it, and dont just glance at it ... look closely and you will be stunned at the detail.
My good friend Jimmy, the GM of PFAFF Reserve, and now the GM of PFAFF Porsche commissioned this car over 7 years ago, and what's insane is the fact that he / PFAFF laid down a decent (refundable) deposit for a car 'sight unseen' fully expecting that he would back out, but he said what the hell ... Cost $2 Million. Move ahead 2 years Jimmy see's a DLS in person and is completely blown away and now commits to the entire build.
Fast forward another 5 years and the car is complete ... before it even lands in Toronto, the car is sold ... amount unknown, but what I can tell you is this.
They are ONLY making about 75 or so DLS's, (no more) and on the open market one just sold for over $4,000,000.00
So I now ask myself the question ... If I had the $$ to buy one, would I ??
Absofu%^^$#lutly ... This is a drivers halo car, there is nothing out there that looks like it, drives like it or sounds like it.
As I get older and I see so many cool, fast supercars at all these events I feel like I am numb to it all. Ya, there goes another Aventador, or another GT3 RS etc... But when you come face to face with a car like this it's like taking you back to your childhood and the 1st time you saw 'that car'... Its simply mesmerizing

My tastes (and my bank account) don't approach anything near this level, but I agree with you 100%. I mostly owe my increased interest in cars to time spent living in South Florida, where there are multiple car shows every weekend; Supercar Saturdays at Lamborghini of Broward; Cars & Coffee Palm Beach where every month you could count on 2000+ cars of all makes and models.
With the exception of an F40 and a couple 959s I'll probably never see again -- and the elusive Chiron which started to show up after I left FL -- I don't generally get too excited about those cars. When anyone with deep enough pockets can walk into a dealership and buy one with relative ease, and there are relatively large numbers of them on the street... ehh. The poster car from my childhood I'll never be able to afford (to buy or maintain) is a Testarossa, and I'll shoot countless photos of one the rare times I see it.
But what makes my heart skip a beat is the awesome cars brought back to life and made better than they ever were. Living vicariously through the people who are able to make this happen is exciting enough, and I very much appreciate the builds on this site, and the photos in threads like this. I remember my first few visits to this site seeing Roadster Shop's C1RS build thread, and I dug up a Robb Report scanned magazine ad for it as another "poster car". Not to single-out RS specifically, but I miss that they no longer post build threads here, to be able to read about the work done in addition to the galleries on their website.
Being able to read about the progress, the work done, to keep cars on the road that have actual style -- and the performance to match -- is so cool. Same with talking to those same guys at the car shows about what they've done and how it was done, while my non-mechanical feeble brain soaks it all in.
Sorry for rambling -- this Singer DLS looks amazing, and it'd be quite a treat to see in person!
Since this is a photo thread... for anyone who's not familiar with the C1RS from years ago, here's that magazine ad.

Juggernaut ... could not agree more, the Vette is stunning and reminds me a lot of this 2nd outstanding piece of artwork. This SL, would LOVE to see this in person.

My pleasure Skip, not very often I get 'emotional' about a car LOL

Steve,
I think a lot of us get emotional about cars…especially when we get our credit card statements and see how much the old crustys and dustys cost us each month!
