Here's the start of my new intercooler. (I ditched the air/air). Holley high ram base and liquid intercooler core that fits it.

Bent up the end tanks and clamped them to the top flange so I could mark the intake manifold for holes to be drilled.

The holes in the end tanks will have long -8 male fittings welded to them and have an external o-ring to seal inside bungs that will be welded to the intake manifold in the same locations. So, when finished I can drop the intercooler core in the intake manifold, the o-rings will seal boost/vacuum and the 3 -8 fittings per side will be the coolant flow inlets/outlets.

Nice work Jim, that should clean up the engine compartment nicely!!

Love the wheels, so what did they do different from the first set?

Rick, the first set were staggered 19/20 and appeared to be 15/16 with the simulated white wall.

This set is the same 20x9 front and rear (and spare) and appear to be 17's.

Center hub is straight instead of angled which ends up with a bigger hubcap, one more groove in the center hub between the fins and the hubcap is sunk into the wheel more so it has less of a front wheel drive look to it.

Also this set will be chrome plated for more bling. I thought the clear coating over polished took away too much luster.

Mike, thanks but it has been done before (well, not sure how the water lines were done) so I can't take credit for the idea. The rest of this project will be unique however. Back to the garage!

How does this intercooler work compaired to a front mount? Is this just for better packaging? I know your not going for all out HP on this one but was wondering if you give a lot to run this setup?

How's the 59 coming?

Awesome on the heat exchanger.

Who did you find that was willing to chrome plate wheels?

Rick, if you run enough water flow through them they work great. The guy who owns the turbo Nova from drag week ran the same core at mid 8's and mid 160mph trap speeds so that's over 1100hp.

The other advantage is more weight is kept behind the front axle instead of leveraged over it way out in the nose, and the induction piping is shorter.

Another option is to run an extra evaporator core that chills the intercooler water and used on demand but since I already have 2 a/c systems I think that would be asking too much of the compressor/condenser.

For a road race car that will see continual wide open throttle use I think air/air is definitely the way to go for the most efficiency.

Donny, the same place that did all of my other chrome parts (Custom Metal Finishing in Indiana) looked into getting the anodes for the wheels and said they could do them no problem

Slow! Well I do have most of an engine but still no trans. Reground cam, LS1 valves and some bowl work in the heads, LS7 valvesprings, should make at least 200hp!
