It's 16* here tonight --- and was 0* this morning... I spent the day down at the shed.... and it was so nice and toasty! A guy has to have heat or our brains don't even function <they barely do anyway>. Good for you Wayne!

Wayne I just read all of the build, just a beautiful job! Gotta love your neighbor I recently built a 30x30 here in my back yard. I have to say I'm ignorant about why the foundation is needed? mine was done on a slab guess cause the winter differences where we live. I didn't see your attic in this just an attic stair, and the ebay and Craig's list whore made me laugh out loud as I sourced a lot of my materials from Craig's even my lift! I'm glad when mine was done I'm sure you are too. I read about a Camaro I think we need to see that in there

Thanks ZMAN yes it was quite the experience. As far as the foundation we have a 4-1/2 foot frost line so you have to be below that to build. To get the hight I needed to match the house foundation it was close to 8 feet tall so we did the same all the way around.
In the attic I won't have much storage because I went with a truss roof. The way the building inspector explained it, that was my only course to go. Later I found out that I could have gone with storage upstairs as long as it was engineered. ( which they made me get an engineer)That was 2 strike for that Pr--k. He was the one that told me I needed a variance to build. The night we went before the board the chairman asked about the project and why I didn't move it over 1' so it would meet the requirements and not need a variance. That was after I asked the inspector if there was anything I could do to avoid going before the board. It cost me over $2500 extra that I didn't have for something I didn't need.
So glad that's over!

OK gotcha on the foundation. I have a 30' span and my trusses were engineered
and seems like I had alot fewer inspections foundation, framing, electrical, roof? hell I dont remember - was like 4 or 5 max I do remeber talking with them about A/C and they said the windows needed to pass WTH? its not living space and no running water. I did add a 2 ton window unit that is GREAT!
good job on you build looks great
