It's nice to be debt free. you will sleep better at night and your money made money while you were asleep.

Chris,
I just finished reading this entire thread and I've got to say what an awesome job you are doing
Before you started this did you do any welding at all? or did you just jump right in never having done any of this before, buying a welder and everything.
Keep the updates coming

Thanks for the kind words. To answer your question, I had never even owned a welding machine much less weld. I bought the machine off of Ebay, then rounded up a few scrap pieces of sheetmetal from some builders I know and started practicing on plug welds, then moved into butt welding sheetmetal. Trust me, I don't claim to be a welder.

Hopefully the car doesn't fall apart when I drive it (IF I ever get to finish it!!!).

It's gonna be real hard not to spend it on the Camaro. I've got to budget a little per month to keep the project inching along.

Got my Stainless Works LS headers in yesterday. I'm used to the old SBC style header flanges that always bent and bolt heads that were right up against the header tubes making it interesting to tighten. These things are very well made. Can't wait to get them mocked up. I was expecting a 2-3 week turnaround and they showed up in 8 working days from time I ordered them.

I just closed on my old house last Friday and paid off my land, so I'm officially DEBT FREE!!! We were going to start building a house immediately, but my job is kinda shaky right now, so my wife and I have decided to section off half of my shop and make a 2 bedroom apartment to live in. My goal is to save as much money as possible over the next 3-5 years and hopefully pay cash for our new house. I hate to take on a $150K-$200K mortgage and then lose my job.
Way to go - just read through your thread- good luck on the build!!

Good stuff man, keep the pics coming. I also like your debt free mentality and behavior. My wife and myself are working on getting debt free ourselves, it's the way to go. Everything I do to my Camaro is paid in cash, so it is taking longer to do things I want, but will be better in long run.

I know what you mean. I've been building mine on tax returns!
