Funny, I haven't touched my car in a couple of months either. It was a nice day out here in Nor Cal yesterday so I took 'er out for a semi spirited ride.

Man did that feel good!!

Todd -- You're going to have to have ARP make you a air cleaner stud... good to 190,000 PSI

I put a 1969 302 rubber mount on the passenger side to absorb some harmonics and it does, but it allows a little movement.

Would a torque strap on the motor work?

A snorkle cold air setup and K&N? Not a classic look but it should gain clearance if you can fit it.

The price of the Magnum after a few drives was insignificant to me.

Car is looking good as ever.

I actually had the same issue with my BBC setup. Engine is shifted to the passenger side a little bit due to the NOS BBC frame stands, and that caused my 14" air cleaner to rub on passenger side of the hole in the hood when the engine torqued on my NOS rubber motor mounts. I reworked my air cleaner base to shift the filter assembly back over to driver's side by about 3/8" and that solved the issue. I had to get creative with the filter stud also to make up for that shift. Here are the pics if you're interested Todd:

After final welds, grinding, and smoothing:

Nice work there sir. Mine rubs in the 2 O'clock position facing the front of the engine. I'm running small block mounts. Looks like they need to manufacture these hoods somewhere between big block and small block mounts. Seems to be pretty common. The position of my rub negates a torque strap as well. While a cold air intake system would fix my problem and be very functional, ain't going to happen.

Agree, the ugly factor is a real issue especially with the ZL1 and you don't keep the car in the closet.

Just a couple of examples for an offset air cleaner

We always drilled and tapped the carbs on our circle track cars for a 5/16 stud

I'll look into it, thanks. The problem is I don't need much.
