Is anyone else concerned that those plug wires aren't stout enough?

I apologize in advance if the answer is in your build thread.

I'm assuming you didn't keep the "Cup" camshaft. So what did you do for cam profile & type ?

No worries. This thread is a quagmire for sure.

It was not a cup camshaft to begin with. I purchased the motor used and we decided (were forced to) fix or redo quite a bit. The cam that came with it (Bullet) was in good shape and had pretty decent specs (but not ideal) so we are starting out with it. The plan is to upgrade the cam after my 2-3 year refresh (depending on usage) and rev it higher. But first thing's first....

Here are the specs:

264/274 @ .050
.390/.390 @ lobe
.663/.663 net lift with 1.7/1.7 rockers
113 LSA

This cam with the motor mostly as is (minus the head work, dry sump, E85) "supposedly" made 730 something hp below 7000 rpm and 610 or so ft lbs at around 6000 rpm.

We will know soon enough.

Wow, our engines have a lot of similarities ... but with unique differences.

My engine makes 730hp at 7000 rpm & 600# of torque at 5600rpm ... cam is 265/274 @ .050 & .648"/.630" net lift ... and also runs on E85. But mine is 405" on 23° degree heads.

What cubic inches is yours?

You going to take it easy on the pulls, or are you gonna play hungy hungry horsepower?

Wow that is dang near the same huh. Those are great numbers for a 23* motor. What heads do you use?

But with my head work and mods I should be upper 700's I am guessing? If I hit the magic 800 I will be stoked.

My cubes are 437. 4.17 x 4.00

Ha now that trumps my cat avatar for sure.

Mike doesn't chase hp on the dyno he says.. and the dyno is for making sure everything runs properly. We will just play with timing, jetting, and carb spacers.

Another of his lines is "it's gonna make what it's gonna make"

so hopefully that = FE power + a lot more.
