Thumbs up

Mine was a 65 GTO, 389/3 duce 4 speed I bought for $500.00. I loved that car and kept it immaculate. I sold it when I was a junior in college (yes,I kept it and drove it to college) to finance a summer job in Lake Tahoe. It was the best car traded for the best summer of my young life. They guy I sold it to still owns it, and sez he'll sell it to me when he doesn't like walking into his garage and looking at it anymore.

Still have mine. 69 Cougar XR-7 390 car...it's sitting under a cover in Seattle, waiting for me to have time and $$ to finish it. However I have a divorce and a kid who plays travel baseball, so that is a long way off...

When I was growing up my dad and my brother worked together to rebuild a 67 mustang for him for his first car. I decided at that point I wanted either a 69 camaro or a 69 mustang. After long searching my parents found a 69 camaro and surprised me with it on my 13th birthday.

They actually left my birthday party (with my oldest brother [19] to supervise), and left to inspect the car as the "thrifty nickel" had just come out for the week and it was a new listing.

My parents were the 2nd people to see the car and quickly struck a deal for $2,000 for the running/driving 307/3spd numbers matching car (man I miss car prices from the 90s). It was primer grey, he had just redone the interior in black and rebuilt the front end.

The first guy that stopped by called when my parents were there but they'd already made the deal! The car was originally hugger orange and white interior. However as mentioned it was stripped and primered when I picked it up.

It didn't take long to grow tired of the 3spd and the 307, so I built a 355 w/ Super T-10 4spd for the car and drove it like that through highschool. With the help of MAACO the car was painted yellow w/ black stripes (stupid decision and i've since rectified that).

Car got parked while I went to college, and lived briefly as a LT1/T56 powered car (driven for approx 1yr with that combo).

My dad sent it to me as soon as college was completed and it waited for me to have the time/patience/finances to start the restoration/modification. Details on that can be seen in my build thread (link in my signature).

Yes. The Streetfighter Camaro. Bought in '81 or '83 or something at tender age of 13. After seeing the movie Corvette Summer I had to have a car to build from scratch like they did in the movie. Drove my parents crazy 'til it happened.

Starting with an $800 6 cyl powerglide ex-rental car, it's been through many lives, returned from the dead after a near fatal crash, has one of the very first aftermarket subframes, been across the country a few times, and spawned a business in Twist Machine. It has a worn-in feel.

It's a permanent part of the family.

1971 Buick GS convertible w/ Stage 1 455.

Bought it when I was 14 from my uncle. He bought it from my grandfather who was a salesman at a local Buick dealership. My grandfather had sold the car new to a couple, they owned it for a short time (not sure how long) and traded it in. My uncle also worked at the dealership and bought it.

I'll post some pics later.
