Ron, the Long Shifter is the way to go on this tranny. They have truly designed/engineered a great shifter and is the shifter of choice from Richmond.

I run with a 3 chamber flowmaster so that my bride will ride with me. This has really helped with taming down the engine noise. But when you step into the throttle you will need to prepare for takeoff and hold on, an almost violent roar occurs from this beast.

The whine is not bad at all from the tranny, just tells me a well built tranny is behind this bigblock.

Hi Ron, the Magnum T-56 was installed in our 70 Camaro project "Re-Peeled". The only thing I had to do was cut a hole for the shifter.

When you say a Long Shifter is this a Hurst Long Shifter or one specifically for the new Richmond?

Does you new bride like riding in the car even if you get on it a time or two? I think my girlfriend is somewhat afraid to ride with me and the car is not even built yet. My daughter is ready to get up and go.

Thanks.

Was your '70 Camaro an automatic or did you just make the trans hole larger?

Thanks.

If anyone chose "Other" in the poll above please tell me what trans you prefer and why.

Thanks.

Long shifters are there own brand allowing far better adjustability to make sure you don't miss shifts. gb

what was the intended use again? if its anything other than cruising i would stick with the t-10 if thats what you have. IMO, if not, go with a 6speed, i've read the internals from the camaro fit in a tr400 for a SBC application. i dont know if someone else has mentioned it or ask, but i thought i would add my .02

I'm not a fan of the t-56, but thats my opinion, they havent erned a rep for me unless there a rebuilt version like Tremec T-56

The intended use is to have fun with the car by cruising, long distance rides, and maybe the local and close by autocross, etc.

I am not even close to buying a trans but at the moment I am leaning towards the TKO 600. Hopefully Greg is proud of me (just joking with you Greg)
