Been there done that myself.
Many years lighting up to calm down after a challenging day. Not a heavy smoker but consistent.
7 years constantly in the air during my Rock-n-Roll gigs. Practices, rehearsals, pre and post shows.
Went on a 3 day camping trip and got really wasted on the KGB the first day. Next day I had a one on one with the man above. I decided then to set my priorities straight and decide what was important to me. I was a new dad of a 1 yr old son. That is where my priorities need to be. My family.
Failing a $500,000.00 life insurance piss test a couple of months later assured me the decision to quit was the correct decision.
Soon, I found out who my true friends were.
We used to say, A friend with weed is a friend indeed.
Where are they now? Oh! that's right, I don't smoke it anymore. So they don't come around anymore either.

I learned that being under the influence wasn't the high!
It was the ritual of smoking weed that was the high.

Sure I still see some of those friends from time to time and they still light up. Some of them have been divorced, in jail, and or lost their jobs ext...
For me it's been 9 years since my last toke and I don't miss it at all.

For those in the US who will have no idea what movie this is, in the US it was called Airplane!

Looks like I picked the wrong week...

Congrats speedshftr! Any addiction is a tough nut to crack, and there will be stumbles and hard times, but don't let those get you down, in the end you'll manage it!

You can do anything you put your mind to.
I smoked heavily for a number of years. Now I only smoke a couple of times a year. Much more stimulating, and easier on the wallet!

Good to hear about the hiatus. Finding a healthier addiction is good, such as working out. I find my sobriety is like my high now. I was always active, now I'm running on 110 octane. Keep it up young man. We're all pulling for you.

I quit smoking at 21 after a 2 or 3 pack a day habit -- I 'declared war' on the smokes -- they were the enemy -- and type A personalities do NOT LIKE TO LOSE! So as long as I told myself - those stupid little cigs are not going to control me! A cigarette is not going to tell me what to do! Ever! I've never had a smoke since - and I'm 56 now...

DO NOT LET "THEM" WIN! They have no brains - you do!

Keep it up!
