Do you know of a consignment shop? I haven't dealt with them before. I've tried a for sale sign at Cars n Coffee without luck.

I think it's just over 2,000 RPM at 70MPH in 5th. The TKO has been great.

Well, are you a gambling man? I think it's somewhat of a gamble, sure. But what could be the worst case scenario? I don't think it would go for under $50k, which nets you about $44k. Yeah, not great at all, but I don't think it is likely.

Like I said, I have studied Barrett Jackson sales for the past 2-3 years now and my builder has attended and we agree that basic modified Camaros have seen big prices there. I think yours could be one of the ones that fetches more than you are asking for here ($75k+) and possibly big money if you get 2 guys really interested and bidding against each other.

I am considering taking my 68 to BJ this January, and it will be fairly similar build and setup to yours (although maybe not as nice and detailed as yours eve) so I am not just spouting off here.

Just a thought...

Default Risky!!

Tom,

To start, your Camaro is very cool.

To me BJ is very risky. Look at what happened with the posion dart? Sure, it had a dead battery but still.....50K for that car? And there have been other examples of real nice cars selling at BJ auctions over the last 2 years for much less then anticipated. Back in 2004 - 2006 resto-mod \ pro tour cars were brining big bucks. These days the only cars that are more of a lock to bring big bucks at BJ auctions are number matching, and\or rare original cars.

Bottom line: BJ is a way to go but be prepared to settle for 50K or less or just do not go. It could go for more, and that would be deserved. But, be prepared given the market.\

Take care,
Chris

Chris, you make good points. But a Dart is not a 1st Gen Camaro, and think about the demographic that buys popular custom restomod cars under 100k. There are plenty of guys going to there to buy one car like that.

Another risk is the weakening economy and therefore less discretionary spending on toys and such like this. But all it takes at a huge auction like BJ is to have a well put together car. I think this one is one of those cars. I feel strongly that a lot of cars at BJ that are not that impressive or pieced together right still go for big money, even after 2006.

But yes the bottom line is you must be willing to accept the low side of 45-50k net to possibly see that upside of 80-100k if the stars align.
