Sunday 9PM
Dad has made significant progress so far. He is still on dialysis which is allowing them to get his fluid level / swelling down, and he has not developed any additional problems with the small intestine (dying sections, or infection being the biggest of potential problems). He is quite alert and is answering questions by nodding/shaking his head or raising/furrowing his eyebrows...He has a tracheotomy port for the respirator now which is more comfortable for him and allows for less chance for infection vs. intubation...he is off all meds for maintaining blood pressure, maintaing it on his own, and hopefully with the reduced swelling they will soon be able to close the abdomen. The docs say his progress in the last week has been amazing to them. He has a long recovery in front of him, but has been showing either little change or an incremental improvement every day, never losing any ground so far.
Thanks again to all of you, for your continued kind words and support!!
-Rob

That great to hear some good news. And if the doctors are impressed, that's even better! We will keep him in our thoughts!

Hello folks...Firstly, I want to thank all of you for your kind words, your thoughts and your prayers, all of the emails...it really means a lot.
My father was not able to gain any additional ground toward recovery and passed away peacefully on 2/28.
Again, thanks to all.

Sorry to hear the news. These are tough times. Remember the good stuff, it will pull you through. Don't be afraid to grieve, and don't be upset with yourself if you don't do it right away. Take some time, be alone, gather your thoughts, be at peace.
For those of us that have already been through it, I can tell you we know its hard. Time does help. Time with family is powerful.
You are in our prayers.
