I figured 35k for engine. Alloy Block, Alloy Heads, EFI, Dry Sump etc.
Just didnt know whether im better off SB in full alloy or whether a BB in full alloy would be just as good. Looks wise, The BB wins. Street wise, the BB is more friendly on fuel as it can make power easily while a SB has to be hotted up like a race motor which makes fuel efficiency shocking.
I am looking at around 650hp.
I know both SB and BB can do it...
Just stuck on the "how much better would 1 be over the other and how much more streetable (fuel wise) would 1 be over the other and then weigh it up and decide do I need that extra (0.5?) of a seconds better overall around a circuit or the extra 100miles on the street.
I mean, if the difference is significant between a SB and BB like "the SB will be 5 seconds faster than the BB around the track and will only be 2-3mpg worse than the BB" Then fair enough, that is definitely the way to go. Some how I feel however that a BB at 650hp vs a SB at the same power, will be at least 5-10 mpg better and half a second worse on the track because it can make up for the corners with its flatter curve. It is also less maintenence with a BB car and for someone like me that will rarely ever see the track... that half second difference is worthless. But as said, it may be 5 seconds difference. I dont know. This is 1 subject I have never really decided upon. The whole point to having created an alloy BB was to bring its weight down to a SB yet carry all the BB potential/power curve etc.
But even having said that... why not a small block stroked to 428 or 460 w/e ci, that will make 650hp no problem and its still small block.
I also like RPMs, but I like flat torque curves (street car)... I got a lot going on up in me brain and none of it is connected to anything.
If you dont understand what I am saying, be happy you are not the one up in my head! I dont get it either!
HP2 I did not realize either. Also the engine block, if you remember the original picture of the car, under the distributor around the radiator hose the entire top of block looked like it had an egg yoke on it. The guy that got me the car cleaned it up, repainted that bit and I did not even know about it. I just got the photos and I was like "Hold on whered the work I had to pay someone to do dissapere?" He just did it free.
Everything was a GOOD surprise for a change rather than "O... didn't see that.... O crud.... nor that either... HMMM, more holes there to fix... O damn that was all bog under there"
