Default 64 Dodge Dart Gt 5.7 hemi update

Havent posted in a long while. A month ago i won a dirt cheap 5.7 hemi out of a 04 ram on ebay. The seller said the engine was locked up, but he didnt know what had happened. He had bought it from another person and was told the truck was in a wreck. I didnt have to drive far to get it, but for $600 bucks i thought it was worth it. I really needed an engine like this to see were things are gonna fit in my engine bay. I also got an alternator, ac compressor and a few other things with it. My though was to use it for mocking up things, then later tare it down and see what was wrong with it.
Well after i got it home, i couldnt resist opening it up. As you can see from the pics, i first found this muddy dried up dirt in the cylinders, then two broken connecting rods. To my surprise the end of the rods would still turn freely on the crank and the bearings didnt look damaged. The only damage to the block was a tiny nick just outside the cylinder and then a very small scratch on the bottom of the cylinder wall. The scratch isnt deep and appears to be just at the bottom edge of the wall. I dont even know if the piston rings would go this far down. Im thinking about taking the block down to a shop and have it looked over. If its rebuildable ill use it. Itll save me 3-5 grand and get my car on the road in less time.
I was really wanting a 6.1, but im thinking a 5.7 will still be fun in a 3000lb convertible 5 speed. Plus getting a 6.1 would set me back a few years, and the most important thing to me is hitting the open road. I should still be able to hang with new mustang GTs and still fend off some turbo'ed up rice, but im not really wanting to build the fastest car on the street anyway, just an updated fun, yet decently fast cruzer.
I also yanked out my front K member. I have the Alterktion for my car and i wanted to clean the enginebay up and the whole under carriage before installing it.It should take a long awhile to do that. I also bought a small MIG Millermatic welder that i need to learn how to use so i can make the modifications i want to do with my enginebay and dash.
Also there is a pic of my "shop buddy". Hes my scotty, his name is Benny. He really likes to hang out with family members. One day i was putting the hemi back together after i got the crank out and he was hanging around the garage. I warned him about the oil in his hair, but he didnt seem to mind. I put the hemi back to gether without the crank, pistons, and cam so later i can put it into my enginebay and see how things will fit. Later i will take it back up to a shop and have it looked at. If i can use it, i will, otherwise ill have to buy another hemi later, but for now its serving its purpose.
