Default Did you get your tach problem solved?

Your car is fantastic. Kind of like following Tiger around the golf course and saying good shot after he hits the ball.

I am curious on how the 450 lbs springs work on the front. I have 350's on mine and they feel really good.

Did you end up with 265 on the front and 335 on the rear? What is your front rim width? 9 inches?

Penny really is a gorgeous build Steve ! I love the down-low engine shot. Gonna blow that one up and put it on the wall man.

What finish in on the front upper a arms ? sanded and powered - or sanded and cleared ? PS, you did a great job on colors and metal finish choices. I know you spent a bunch of time on those choices and it really shows. It's always in the details !

Can't wait to hear and see her run the course ! You going to do any performance testing on her like lateral tests or anything ? Just wondering if she will crest the 1 G mark.

Jim

So far they feel fine.. the car is certainly "stiff" though.

I ended up with 255s on the front. When put next to the 275 RA1s I took off the car they were less than 1/4 inch narrower. The 265s were wider than the old 275s.. go figure.

Eventually I will have the front rims made 1 inch wider (to the inside) and run the 275s.. for now this will do.

Upper control arms are just smooted (casting lines removed) and then brushed.

Yea, testing is planned. I start tuning the suspension next week. Will keep ya updated.

I got one of the tachs (the digital one) working great but the other one won't go below 1,700 RPM and seems "slow"... gotta call SW on it.

The speedo has been calibrated and works great when the car is in motion. When at idle it gyrates all over the place like it's on crack.. again, time to call SW.

The clear protection is on the car so she's ready for the road. Next week she goes in for a super double-throw-down alignment.

I still have a squeek in the front drive assembley. I doesn't make noise at idle, just under load. I've replaced both the tensioner and idler pullies so it must be the PS, ALT or water pump..

I still need to wire in the Racepak..

Anyways, that's the Penny update.. and for visting the thread here's a bonus shot. This was taken by Mike Harrington of Super Chevy and was one of the candiates for the cover (but it was never used).. was taken up in the mountains.

The car car looks great! I hope to see it in person someday. One question: this may have been covered before, but what headlights are you using?

Very nice car!!!! Looks like you already see the light under the tunnel! Just wanted to tell you that I had the same problem with the speedo on a 69' Camaro Convertible(22x13 wheels on back) that I worked on a while back. Well I could never find the problem although I changed out the speedo and it did the same thing! I did not get to look into it that much cause the car was sold in the process of fixing little things it needed.
