Well, my digital tach is working great.. love the shift light. The other tach is all wacked out, I think it's defective.

Also, my speedo signal is getting corrupted (I think it's picking up tach sig) so I need to isolate it and coil a ground wire around it. Works when the car is in motion and goes nuts when the car is stopped.

Tires feel amazing.. whole car feels good. I found my chirping noise. It turned out to be my alt bracket. The new bracket is being powdered and that should be on in a week. minor stuff. We are shopping for a vid camera right now in fact.

The guy who did my LS2 tuning recently bought a new alignment rack. This thing is so cool. It can measure bumpsteer, check if the chassis is square to the body and a host of other things. I guess it cost over $50k installed and uses digital cameras on targets. The technology and graphics were stunning.

Anyways, the best news was that my car is perfectly square.. to the hundreth of an inch.

And even though my car is a bit lower than optimal the bumpsteer is very minimal. Almost none in a rise and very slight to the right on a compression (1 inch each way).

My thrust angle was at about 2-degrees so we brought that to around zero. Scott was impressed with how easy the LD three-link was to adjust. We went for a good performance street alignment since that's where the car will spend 90% of its life.

The final specs:


The alignment wasn't cheap but I feel it was worth every penny. The car tracks dead straight, doesn't "hunt" the ruts in the roads and feels great. We also did some computer fine tuning and figured out my front squeek. When I had my alt bracket powdered they coated the nub where the idler rides by accident. I cleaned it off, but not good enough thus causing the pulley to ride at a VERY slight angle. This causes the chirp. I will order up a new brackt tomorrow and just paint the damn thing. lol

I also found out that my car runs out of gas at 1/2 tank on the gauge.. don't ask but I need to adjust the sender.

Those hunter alignment machines are awesome and easy to use. We use the same machine and rack at mercedes. I wish we had the clamp on heads instead of the mercedes specific heads so then I can start aligning my cars.

Car looks awesome. That action shot is now my background. This should definitely give my dad the inspiration to build the 69 z/28 he has wanted since he was a senior in high school.

I've been following your car for a while now, I kinda figured you'd discover the source of your, "Chirping", noise was located near the rear of your car.

Specifically under your rear wheels during the latter part of an up shift.

I use a Sony DCR HC-42 camcorder and a Sony CCD camera. For a mount I use a billet aluminum clamp for 1.5" tubing(mainly goes in my sandrail). the CCD velcros into a mount that is 3m double sided taped onto the mount. holds the camera very steady on my offroad runs at Glamis or the hardpack, rocks and whoops near Barstow.
I bought the CCD and cables etc as a kit from skullcamz off of ebay a couple years ago.

Steve, after years of following this car, ( I even remember following the blue one) I just noticed this. Do you have manual (not power assisted) brakes?

I always run manual brakes, it's just what I prefer. The key is proper sizing of the MC bore.
