The hood is one that we were racking our brains on. The customer had to have the shot gun style, forward facing Firebird scoops because he had a 75 Firebird in high school. The car came in with the Firebird scoops and the T/A shaker hood scoop. It was the first time we had seen that done before... The car had a 502 in it and the entire carb was through the hood with the stock GM intake and a small air cleaner on top of it. That was the reason for the shaker hood. The new build has a 572 with a higher intake, nitrous plate kit, and needs a sizable air cleaner on top of it. So, we are dealing with 15 lbs in a 5 lb bag! Having the forward facing scoops really makes the rest of the hood complicated since it needs to be raised about 6 inches in the center to clear the carb. We will see how things progress once we get into it!

Any updates on this? I'd love to see how this one is coming along. the interior design is absolutely killer.

By the way, where or who does your interior work? Is it all done in house, or do you farm any of it out? I'm curious about the upholstery and sticking in particular. Regardless...absolutely killer work!

Thanks! All the design and fab work is done by ourselves, we usually use one of about seven different shops depending on the project, scheduling etc.

The 'bird is going steady with lots of work cleaning up the underhood appearance, full exhaust system and door handle removal.

We are also doing a bit of a freshen up on Jim's '33 Tracknose.
Some of you may have seen it before: http://www.roadstershop.com/complete...mpleted-photos

The plan is to do a tonneau style top, new windshield and a few more 'tweaks'.
This means removal of the old windshield, posts, cowl recess and filling the tops of the doors.

The original windshield look:

Also some work on the steering arm. Thought I'd throw these in as the car isn't seen often without the nose and hood!

The Tracknose was at San Diego Wheels and Waves last year when I went down --- I crawled all over that car. Just super impressive!

I'm glad he is re-doing the windshield. The new design fits the style better.

Thanks Greg. I still love looking at all the details in this car. There was a ton of stuff that went into the suspension and under hood work that you really couldn;t see once the nose went on. And that still has to be one of the best looking motors that we have ever done. Getting rid of all the accessories on the front of the motor jsut gave it a bitchen, clean look.

There was always a limit on what could be done to the car because of the convertible top and side windows needed to seal up to the windshield. After driving the car for a year, the owner said that he had only put the top up once and never rolled the windows up. So, he decided to get rid of them and finish the car off the way he had always envisioned it. Everything else on the car was built as a period inspired dry lakes race car. The new custom duval style windshield will give the car the look it deserved originally.
