I just don't get the Belichick and/or players conduct themselves like "classless" or "a-hole" comments. Belichick is quiet to a fault, unemotional, reserved and direct. His interviews are insanely dry whether it's a win or loss. That trickles down to every player that gets behind the mic, even Moss. Credit is ALWAYS given to the other team regardless of their often evident lack of class prior and after the game. However, I suppose if you only hear sound bites on ESPN or your local sports cast you may hear a message that conveys something completely different. The only time I have ever heard a remotely negative comment uttered from a press conference or locker room interview was a comment defending accusations from teams they beat.

I mean, I'm not delusional enough to think I can convince people to love them, everyone should have pride in their own team but some of this stuff is pretty bold and unfounded.

I, for one, am not trying to take this thread too seriously, it's sports. Maybe it sounds that way but it's really not a big deal. It's not like someone saying Chevys are a POS....then the gloves come off!

I just read that Tom Brady and Randy Moss both declined their invitation to the Pro Bowl following the Patriots SuperBowl loss. WTF ?

I heard that yesterday too. Both are "claiming" ankle injuries. Don't know if I believe Moss....he's got a legal battle coming up so....

Belichick absolutely comes off as arrogant, cocky, etc. and that's what seems to keep the "hate" going. I think since they're your team that you view them differently, but coming from a fan of another team he is universally considered a jerk on every football board I'm on. Talented, yes, but like he's doing you a favor to even talk to you. Then when the whole spygate deal came up, and now with the senate probe and the ex-employee going to testify it just fuels the fire.

I'm sure a lot of the dislike comes from jealousy to a point, he and the team are very successful. But, in my opinion, he brings a lot of it on himself with the way he acts, talks, etc.

It's the O-line that should be ashamed to go. This will basically be punishment for the guys elected to the team...play like S in the biggest game of the year and suck, then have to go to the ProBowl. They must be so embarrased to be even walk onto that field in Hawaii.

As far as congress investigating anything in sports...dont you think the country has a couple other MAJOR issues going on that could use some attention from these Senetors? Let MLB and the NFL handle themselves.

I can see the point that he's not a likable, outgoing guy, he's got the personality of a grapefruit. I also know that from personal experience quiet people are often mistaken for arrogant, that's no surprise. He's not the type of guy I would have a beer with honestly. He drives us ALL nuts here because of that. However, his job is to coach a team though, not to be a PR expert.

As for Spy gate, it's like getting caught speeding. Everyone does it and when you get caught all you can do is say, "Yep, I was going too fast, you caught me." You did something wrong, you got caught,you pay the fine and move on. He didn't make a big deal out of it, he just got back to work. And yes, he and the Pats did have something to prove so they played the next several games with a chip on their shoulder.

Don Shula of the 72 Dolphins was infamous for his "interpretation of league rules". Eric Mangini got caught by the Ravens cheating the week after Mangini outed his former boss! Roger Goodell also made it clear that there is a reason why in professional sports, dummy calls are made, fake signs are sent from the sidelines, coaches cover their mouths while calling in plays, opponents cheat. It's common practice and common knowledge. It's unfortunately part of the game. The Pats were on top of the pile and were the perfect team to be made an example of, it apparently worked for now.

Belichick's personality, or lack thereof, and jealousy are really the only things I can attribute to everyone's animosity. Maybe he should hire a PR guy to talk for him. I dunno, I'll have to wait to see what it's like when he moves on from New England to coach another team. Maybe I'll feel the same as everyone else.
