Damn that's impressive

I once had what we claimed the Worlds Quickest Toyota, but that was in 1983 and a Celica Pro Stocker, it had an Pat Musi 366 CuIn Bigblock and ran 8.8/160 back then.

It was also easy to call it the Worlds Quickest Toyotas because there wasn't that many around back then Only Rallye cars.

Those Supras are really a piece of engineering art, reliable and powerful.

Great work SW!

Hey SW, one other thing - did you change the rearend gearing for that run or is it the same as the 1/4 mile ratio? How far off of redline was it at 229?

Same rear end. It's the stock Toyota 6spd rear end w/ TRD limited slip added. I was turning 9515 rpm in 5th gear according to the data log. We had the rev limit set at 9550. We felt we would lose too much time going into 6th.

Anthony, it does have a full cage, harness and Parachute. I was wearing all my gear inlcuding a Hans device.

I think Chris wants to put his old motor back in it and make it more of a driver. Now I'm hooked, I'm searching for another Supra, I don't want to cut up the Supra I have now, to build into a drag/ 1 mile car... here we go..

Default Obviously the Supra is one bad ass ride

Just curious as to why you would not start with a C6 Z06 or Viper to do the same thing? I know you have both and was wondering what gives the Supra the leg up on those vehicles. Size, weight, frontal area?

Get that thing on the salt and let it breathe!! Once again, incredible achievement and this is so much more fascinating to me than drag racing even though i know how hard that car rocks the quarter. I went to the salt for the first time last year and I'm hooked. It's another world and all the variables to run all out top speed is so damn cool!

Please tell me Speed Channel or ESPN was at Maxton.

I have a friend of mine named Norm that owns the Lingenfelter TT C6Z that has run 226 "unofficially" in the mile. I saw that car at when I was at the Car& Driver 0-200-0 shoot out. He has about $250k+ in the project. They hurt the motor at the test and had to re-do it. SVS has done 231.6 in there twin turbo Viper race car but it's not even close to being a street car. A big reason is the guys at Boost Logic are close friends and they mostly work on Supras. They also lease a building from me directly behind my office. I think it's pretty cool to take a 6cly 10+year old Toyota and run those kind of numbers. When I build mine, it will be faster than the silver Supra I just ran. I have a new Skyline GT-R on order, we shall see what we can do with it.

Default Thanks for the reply

Pretty much why we all take these old muscle cars and try to make them into a C6 Z06 instead of just going out and buying a Z06, which would have been cheaper. LOL

I can't wait to follow the Supra build and hear about the new Skyline. Please post up build pics on this site of the Supra.

Who woulda ever thunk a little bitty 6 cylinder could make so much power.

2JZ's are awesome! Thanks for sharing that....
