Default My 67 finally out for paint!

Way back in 2004 when I tore this car apart for the first time, my intention was to build the car mechanically over the first winter and blow it apart and paint it the next. Things never go as planned, do they? It was two years later before it ran again. I ran a track day and did a few days of Power Tour in 2007, but that was about it. I figured I would take it apart that winter and redo the paint which was getting tired. By the time I got the ambition (courage) to tear it apart again it was March 2008. No problem I thought, I’ll get it back from the media blaster in a week and get cranking on it. I had dabbled in body work years ago working it my dad’s shop when I was a teenager. Though I was pleased with how solid it was once the paint was stripped, nothing is ever as quick or easy as you think it will be. I finally decided to leave it to a professional.

Long story short, it is finally out for body and paint. The day after Christmas I hauled it up to Telly at Violetto Auto Works. You might know him as TellyV here on the board. After seeing his bitchin Cuda, I knew he could turn out the kind of job I wanted on the Camaro. It doesn’t hurt that he is within a couple hours of where I live and virtually a stone’s throw from my engine builder, Wegner Motorsports.

Not being able to leave anything alone and after finding a screaming deal on a complete L92, I sold the LS2. Of course I couldn’t leave the L92 stock, “Hello Wegner’s?” I wanted to go EFI and wanted something unique, so I ordered up a Precision Metalcraft fabricated intake like Jody put on his Chevelle. Well you had to know I couldn’t put this thing back together with stock hood hinges. “Hello Ring Brothers?” That has been the story of this build. This really is a disease.

Here are a couple of progress pics. If you are not familiar, see the link in my sig for before pictures, both when I got the car and before it came apart this time.

Can anybody think of a catchy name for this beast?
