Regardless I think this should be taken to a PM and not turned into a Witch Hunt.
I addressed this already. I have been PMing him. He said wait or theres a restocking fee.
As far as not having stock, thats fine! Just be HONEST thats all I ask. I had another route I could have taken.
I just ordered headers from Blake from Speedtech. He told me it will be four to five weeks to get them. Guess what, Im fine with that because he let me know and I excepted those terms.
Ok Guys Im not going to post anymore until Tyler posts in here. Im beating a dead horse, some get it some dont. If you order ATS in the future good luck.

The mere fact that the owner of the business in question here has not replied in any fashion speaks volumes concerning his understanding of the basic principles of customer service.

If someone claims a part is in stock, it is reasonable to assume that the part is in fact at a location where it can be shipped out immediately. If the part in question is normally drop-shipped, then the part should not be described as "in stock," but rather as "usually in stock at our supplier." If upon ordering it from the supplier the part is discovered to be out of stock, the business should then contact the purchaser and let them know expected delivery date.

A customer can be quite tolerant of delays, but they must be kept in the loop as to the delay and the reasons for it. If a customer feels he is left in the dark however, he will feel cheated no matter the effort the business might be making on his behalf.

The sad part is, we all have a tendency to cross shop against summit etc. Its Amazing smaller speed shops can even stay in business these days.

Yeah, Jegs and Summit don't ship anything from those 100K sq foot warehouses.

Or me, an Industrial Distributor, 12k sq ft warehouse. We have over 300k in inventory. You are right, the internet has changed business. Customers want the best price AND quick shipments. If you don't or can't provide both, your done.

I will disagree somewhat and say that customers want reasonable prices and excellent customer service. Serve your customers better than anyone else will, and you will have customers who will consider price, but price will not usually be the deciding factor.

If you cannot serve your customers well, I don't care how cheap you are, they will stop doing business with you and tell everyone they can why they stopped.

I'd have to second that. I spoke with Marcus over at SC&C yesterday and the wealth of knowledge that he shared with me alone was enough to decide on his a-arm kit. I mean, we spent about 10-15 minutes with me telling him what I wanted and him explaining suspensions to me. I was sold before I even looked at his prices. And to top it all off, he referred me to Kore3 for my brakes. So I'm not even buying anything from him until later.

I'm not defending his actions, I'm simply pointing out a different perspective. I'd be just as pissed and would have moved on long ago.

Bill,

I agree, I should edit the post to say customers want the best price, the best customer service, AND quick shipments. Living in Columbus, home of Jeg's, some of those dudes are not the brightest bulbs working the counter, but they always have the stuff in stock and the best price. (with no hassle returns if you goof up!)

End of story. None of us know the truth so its really a mute point but if their is any truth to the story that Tyler is intentionally misrepresenting his ability to deliver. (saying things are in stock that are not) then it's end game.

Keep in mind I just recieved in the mail three ATS parts that I bought from ironworks. Also keep in mind that I really want his spindles but don't want to wait a year for them. Nor would I tolerate any lies.

Lastly I know he is reported to be a good guy and everybody loves him but these issues are pretty prevelant The community at whole (not just the guys who know him or are vendors or have gotten their parts easy cause they know someone who knows him) but the vast majority or the community should not stand for this type of buisness practice. Enough is enough.
No disrespect taken. All I can share with everyone here is my personal dealings with ATS and Tyler. It has been nothing but good! I have been a lot closer to ATS than most and spent a lot of time in the shop, so I know a bit more about what has happened and why things are the way they are. It has to suck to have a part of your personal issues posted up for your customer base to see. Regardless one can only react on his personal dealings with any vendor. From what I have read it really sounds like a lack of communication issue to me...and yes that's Tylers end of it. I hope this can get resolved quickly.

The only thing I have issue with is Tyler being called a liar. For me that is crossing the line. Still to each their own.
