Wayne, one goofy little trick that worked for me was I got rid of my go-to plates and bowls and started using smaller ones. Still get to fill the plate and bowl but while the portion is less the visual is a full serving. Goofy maybe but psychologically it worked.......for me.

Must have worked really well for ya Sieg - 'cause you're so skinny you'd fall thru the cracks in a sidewalk.

One thing I used to do --- because we all get hungry for the foods we like not the diet crap! Cook whatever -- but! Let's say you want a steak and baked potato..... you make it --- and cut it in half --- everything -- just cut it all in half -- that way you're eating your "comfort food" --- but taking in half the calories. The trick is not to cheat!

OH -- and you can't have half a bowl of ice cream -- so just fugedidaboudit.

Good points GW, you can still eat all the things you love, just reduce the portions and savor the bites........chew them to infinity.

Cold turkey don't cut it...........and why would you want too? Life is too short. Just remember too much of a good thing is bad.

The other "rule" I really try to watch --- "No white at night" --- which rules out that baked potato we talked about -- but mostly in my household ruled out PASTA...

We've also tried to stick to a gluten free diet... Just doing that dropped 10 pounds off my fat ass... and doing nothing else other than that. It's taken a lot more work to go gluten free because some of the stuff just tastes like crap -- but like anything else - if you work at it - eventually you find stuff that suits you. I just feel better dipping a gluten free cracker into my guacamole!

Glad to hear you are doing well. Portion control is important but improved nutritional intake is the key to your lifestyle change. It's much easier to fill yourself on the right foods and feel satisfied vs. eating less of high calorie foods and fighting yourself. Start educating yourself on nutrition as diet can prevent diabetes and reverse your course.

I constantly hear that eating healthy doesn't taste good. It's just simply not true if you allow your body and pallet time to change. Finding the healthy foods you like and learning to prepare them is also crucial.

Treat it like a study for the best lifestyle you can muster. Nutrition has made a profound difference in my life. I'm rooting for you.....

Thanks everyone! I'm not too worried about eating too much right now I can only take in about 2-21/2oz protein. I'm more worried about getting enough protein and fluids. 60-80 grs protein and at least 64oz of liquids. Its tuff to even fit that in there. 54lbs so far. Trying not to loose too much muscle mass but its real tuff. Walking 2-1/2 miles a day. Still not allowed to lift, push or pull anything yet.
